    Thanks, I'll try that!

Well, I tried again the new version, the file name does not get corrupted, but nothing gets recorded. This is what I tested:

    - I tested first the same settings that work in standard capture! FFDshow encoder, same resolutions, bit rate, etc. Nothing happened in the folder where the file is supposed to go. I tested mp4/xvid, both work with capture, nothing gets recorded. I changed location (there was a space in the folder name, I chose a simpler one, nothing happened), I changed from drive F: to C:\videos\file.avi, not a difference.

    - I tested recording with and without preview. It's previewing alright (GPS info is all there, fine), the minute I click the REC button, the image goes away, and it does not come back. Nothing gets recorded.

    - I tested start recording button, after a restart. Everything loads, I click on the program icon. No file is created, and it starts with no picture. Even if I unclick preview in the settings, the pictures do not show. If I restart it, it will show, but no recording.

    - I unticked multifile recording, etc. all the options, still nothing happens. The counter on the lower right, is it supposed to start counting down when recording? It doesn't. I click on it, it changes settings okay, but it means nothing, no file is created. Some pages ago somebody did get it to work, but maybe something in my system is not working.

At least I don't get any error messages, unlike capture ultimate! Capture! works fine, no gps, but I can wait...I'll keep looking here for a new version, thanks!

Well, heck. Ok, if you want to do something for me I'd apreciate it. Get this one...
    http://curioustech.home.insightbb.co...niCamDebug.zip
    Then get this: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb896647.aspx
While DbgView is running, start up the new MiniCam. Any kind of error messages will show up on DbgView. Show me what that shows and I can at least narrow it down to what it is.

    is there a 1.38 version ??
when i go on the site it says 1.37

    i currently use 1.36

Oops! Yes, now that I updated the link.

Been busy with OBD-II for the filter.

You're not going to believe me. This new debug-modded-Minicam I downloaded worked!

I can post the debug file if you want to, but no errors AFAIK.

It started recording, with or without GPS data, everything worked fine. Files were being recorded, I tested them, they played fine.

I thought, what the heck, does he have another updated minicam version on the site, I downloaded that, unzipped over my minicam directory, re register the relevant files, and no, that didn't work either. The log file on the regular minicam only records one line, with 5-7 random characters.

I'm posting the zip file with the log made as per instructions above, that is, with debug minicam (successfully) running. What gives?

What's new on xport 1.38? Does it check for a gps com port every x secs as did 1.37 I downloaded (to use with gpsgate) -- I'm concerned if I have a one-off version that I should lock in a safe somewhere...:-) ? Why does xport goes from the taskbar to the top most windows after resuming from hibernation? Thanks!

LOL. I believe you. While I was adding debug statements to the code, the compiler decided to show me a basic syntax error in a line of code that it missed many times. So I fixed it. That code has to do with the filename. Ok, I just uploaded that fix without debug. Strange that it's been working.

Yes, it still checks. It was throwing exceptions before so this one's safer. You can also connect all apps to the same COM port. I saw other splitters were doing that, so threw that in.

XPort opens the control dialog when you run it while it's already running. There's no need to run it twice. Or once for that matter. It's executed by the OS.

Heh, thanks for the updates. I'll download the xport version. Just copy over the current one?

    Is this the link?

I just downloaded the minicam, and the files have the same dates on the zip file (latest mod 9/19). I tested, didn't work. How do we know which version is it?

    Thanks.

Yes. Just copy over the old ones. MiniCam.exe should be dated 9/27/09. Clean up your Tempory Internet Files. It might be cached.
