I downloaded the latest (one version up) of Xport before doing a driving trial of two cameras and it worked well with only one issue that happened during garage testing as well.

Xport wouldn't recognise GPS lock (stayed red, after opening minicam and thus opening the comms) even though the GPS had lock (over 5 minutes had passed). Once I closed Minicam x2 and it closed the comms (power saver thingy option on) I re-opened minicam x2 and it straight away had 3D lock.

I'll do it again on the drive home today and see if it does it again.

Make sure you have the virtual ports enabled. I just noticed that the battery saver needs that and fixed it for the next version. The GPS filter doesn't use the virtual ports, but XPort needs them to be enabled to close the window and keep it running. Complicated, anyway, it was that or the access counter got messed up. 1.40 right? 1.39 had some other getting stuck kind of issues.

Yes 1.40. And yes I always leave the ports enabled.

The only other thing I've noticed that happens even with the older versions is sometimes when you close the minicam it doesn't release the gps on battery saver mode. If you open minicam again it still works fine so its not a big issue.

I've been testing it with a bluetooth GPS and so far the battery saver has been opening and closing the port consistantly. Is it possible that another app is using one of the virtual ports, like a frontend? It will only close when nothing is using it.

Well, I have to report this:

I was just testing Minicam (latest one downloaded from the website 10/14/09) with my new Windows 7 SSD install. Fresh install, not even RR or Centrafuse installed (I still kept my old HD with my XP3 install). Guess what, Minicam showed images, but again didn't start recording. No error, exactly as before, it just does not start (no square "stop" button appears, no file recorded, no image showing).

However, the debug version worked fine, as it should. Files were recorded, with preview, etc.

    Go figure.

    Cheers.

Nah I've only be using Minicam with the bluetooth GPS, my mapping program rarely gets used.

For example this morning I ran the two cameras recording all the way into work (around 45min) and also stopped and started the recording on one of them once. Once I was at work I closed each minicam and the GPS/Xport GPS port was still active

If I disable the virtual ports, close Xport, reopen Xport and re-enable ports it stays in battery save mode so nothing else is requesting it

Not a big issue though, I'm still trying to replicate the no GPS data on cold bootup though as this morning it wasn't working but I tapped Xport and it started displaying the data/green Xport but it might have been the exact time proper sync was given so I'll let you know after a couple more trips.

Further test on the cold boot issue, same thing happened so my morning run wasn't a coincidence. Basically (with battery saver on) I opened minicam, then opened it again for the second camera. Both were then recording, Xport was red (Xport on bootup was already set virtual ports enabled ready to go). Stayed red until I double clicked Xport in the task tray then it magically goes green and up pops the GPS overlay data.

I'll try the next run with the battery saver off.

Download 1.40 again. I updated it on 10/14 but didn't change the version. That might help. The battery saver was trying to scan instead of opening the port for some reason. I changed something and recompiled and it stopped. That opening the window bug may be fixed as well.

    No luck I'm afraid

From cold boot Xport still set with virtual ports on, I can also open a navigation program, hit GPS on and Xport goes to red, but not to blue/green until I maximise Xport from the tray and then it goes straight to green and the navigation kicks in. Seems it was working before on either 1.38 or 1.39 I can't remember what I had on it before trying 1.40 because I saw the screenshot of the flashy red/green lights :P

And again I unticked battery saver and from cold boot it locked on and let the GPS software in automatically.

    Ok, try this one: http://curioustech.home.insightbb.co.../XPort140b.zip

I'm pretty sure I got the new one posted, but there have been some strange things happening lately. Those flashy lights are to blame!
