The driver is responsible for the resolutions and frame rates. Setting unsupported resolutions shouldn't give a better picture though. You should be able to get NTSC/PAL resolutions at least, which is a max of 640x480 interlaced (NTSC) or a little more with overscan. 320x240 only sounds like the microsoft default driver. Make sure you have the latest driver for that specific device.

I have the latest drivers for the card, 1.38.20, which are also Win7 certified. I double checked in device manager to make sure it is indeed using these drivers and not some generic MS driver.

The card is capable of up to 720x576 video capture. In fact, I just tried the original Capture! program from the first post, and that was able to detect all the possible resolutions up to and including 720x576 and I was able to record at that resolution.

So I think there might be a problem with how Minicam is getting the info for the supported resolutions? It also only lists 320x240 for my other camera, the webcam, but I haven't checked if that is correct for that webcam or not.

EDIT: running Windows 7 Pro x86 if that makes a difference

Capture doesn't read the capabilities, it has a hard coded list. But it does have a Capabilities dialog which shows only the first entry. MiniCam has a list as well which it will use if the capabilities request fails. It's not failing since it's displaying something, so that's all the device supports. The driver could just be missing the list due to poor design though. Before webcams all devices were only NTSC/PAL resolutions so those were just assumed. Guess I'll just fake it if only 1 or none are supported.

Download the new one and give it a try. I have some defaults if there's only 1 entry, and also reading the depreciated format and current format. Hopefully that should work.

curiosity, since minicam seems to have trouble accessing folders "over 60 GB", (windows explorer seems to have trouble aswell lol..on my system specs.. it hangs on opening the folder) can we get a "GB limit" for the recording folder..in a way that it will delete the oldest files once a limit is reached

EDIT: and where is you signature.. it had the links!!1

over 60GB? Never heard that. The GB limit does exactly that. Set it to say 50 and it will total up current files and delete oldest to newest until it's at or below 50. This happens before recording starts though, so the current recording should be limited by time to stay under 10 GB for a total of 60.

theres some tweaking you can do to stop explorer from trying to read the attributes of the files inside the folder. I remember that it included turning of the last accessed attribute or something similar. Google should get you something

Just switch to list view (basic name only). Any attributes associated with media will use any and ALL codecs to get information for each file. If a file is corrupt or has information that just one codec chokes on it can crash explorer or freeze. That's why you shouldn't install too many odd codecs.

I just tried that one and it still shows just 320x240 (29). I tried deleting all relevant registry entries in case it made a difference but it didn't.

    Thanks for the great support
