I think that what you want it's possible with motherboard that supports 5+1 channel mode.

in this case you can control the volume of rear, front and central/sub.

I've recently found this software for via-epia motherboard.

I don't think it's possible set up predefined configurations (for example single guider, guider with passenger...) to do this, probably it is needed some development on the front ends... but I don't konw if it's possible...

Yeah, sorry if I didnt make it clear... it is surely done with 5.1 or 7.1 or whatever sound is in that amazing car (the amount of speakers is tremendous... like 3 sets behind the rear-seat headrests, a bunch in each door and so on).... I realize that that is how it works (by adjusting volumes independently on each speaker)... the idea is to have a "preset" level for each option and a GUI to bring em up from your frontned.... (preferably a RR plugin or somerthing)

My pioneer HU has this facilty already

I bet it doesnt compare to what is on the A8 though! I was amazed at the sound difference in each setting.... The merc has this too but doesnt come to the feet of the audi...

what a nice car... I'm still in awe.... the air suspension (just like the Rangie) is amazing, the engine was plenty of power (although I can only imagine how fun the S8 would be), the keyless entry, starting engine, etc (just touch the door with key in pocket and it unlocks car).... man what a cool car...

Are you sure the system wasn't based on time correction? Since the driver, for example, is much closer to the front left speaker than the rear right speaker, a time correction system will play sounds through the front left speaker x number of milliseconds (x depends of the actual distance) after the rear right speaker plays the same sound, so that the sound from each speaker reaches the driver's ears at the same time (right rear speaker sound has to travel further, so it takes longer). The other speakers are similarly delayed so that all sounds played by each speaker reach the driver's ears at the same time. It seems to me like that might be more likely/make a larger difference than adjusting speaker volumes.

I'm sure you could make a script for the kXProject drivers to do what you want.
kXProject is for more cretive PCI cards. They allow you to do delays, which is basically what the audi system does.

check out the eclipse 8 series radios. Theyve had that feature built in for at least three years now.

and those settings are for when you ARENT in "pro mode"
