    That's not USB dude.

BTW: My car already has a "photo-sensor" (http://www.stealth316.com/2-defrgarnish.htm), so I'd tap in to its wire with a small USB microcontroller (like this: http://www.silabs.com/tgwWebApp/publ.../ToolStick.htm) if I was really going to go through the trouble.

    Actually, I use these: http://www.silabs.com/tgwWebApp/publ...8051F064EK.htm
...can't go wrong for $25. That ToolStick thing for $11 looks cool, but it doesn't have any real I/O or ADCs (though you could tap in to the LED lights for 2 I/O).

My bad. I could have sworn I was on their USB page when I saw that. That's what I get for trying to work and surf at the same time.

I got some code that's going to get integrated into GC to do this. On any keystroke or mouse move, it will go to full brightness when in night mode.

hey if you want something to fade out and fade back in, there is a yahoo widget (linked to in my earlier post) that does this. It accepts keyboard shortcuts to enable/disable, so all you would need is something to send the keyboard shortcut when it gets dark.

Progress has been made on GC. It now dims properly. Now I need to work on hte config screen and link it to system idle time.

    Nice!

Not trying to compete here, but the script I created can be used to trigger ANYTHING when dark. So you can get pretty clever with what you want to do upon sunset (not only dim monitor).... possibilities are endless

Yeh. Next version will have ability to run any program (or script for that matter). Just some copy and paste of code from NaviVoice.
