    Music Age/Organization

Ok, I'm pretty sure none of the front ends deal with this issue or I haven't looked hard enough. (please slap me if its the latter)

The way I currently have my music setup is that I have a folder for music. With in it I have a folder for each artist and within those folders are albums from that artist. The only problem is that all the new and old music is all mixed together.

What I want to know is, is there way that I can seperate the new music from the old. Sometimes I don't want to listen to old stuff. It would be nice if there was some sort of option to have the front end only show music that was added in the last, lets say 30 or 60 days. Or use the info from the tags to only show music from the current year. I usually have the random function when playing music and I get alot of old music, when I rather listen to something new. Something has to be done, I know others have to feel the same.

I just haven't been able to find a frontend that manages music the way I like it to. FP comes close but still lacks something. Also i hate it when I have to creat a playlist just to list to one album.

How do you guys deal with new music that you have added??
    any suggestion??

I had the same dilemna till I got my hands on the CFX skin by b8bboi. He has a sort menu for the audio player that includes latest date, alphabetic, random, and reverse. Works great on my 3000+ unsorted mp3s. I haven't tried it on my 200+ albums yet. I believe the command he uses is "SORTPL_DATE_CANCEL." Which in turn runs a vb script: "wscript.exe sortlist.vbs". Too complicated for me to understand, but it works.

I pulled up my explorer to see how well it matched and found if you sort alphabetically first, then by date - its dead on. Problem for me is I usually add album art and lyrics to each new MP3 (albums and singles) through my bulk processor about once a month, so I usually have 40-50 mp3s with the same date, but its the best we got.

If you have the year of release in your ID3 tags, you can sort by that and move out anything past a certain date.

However, to do that, you're going to need to see all the MP3s, which you can't do in your current system of organization.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.
