I'm sure a clone will appear at some point.

It's overrated anyway. A handheld remote control is much more handy.
It would be nice to have a clone of that. I check out some stuff under Delphi, and it appears that it can only do basic recognition without writing a custom component![]()
My thesis would say otherwise. Theres a couple good ideas for you guys, ripe for the taking if you can get through the 100+ pages of the research fluff.Originally Posted by b8bboi

No, I'm not saying it's bad or anything. Of course, you can never have enough input devices. Mouse gesture AND remote control is a lot better than just a remote control.
I'm just saying for common tasks like Play, Pause, Next, Previous, switching between screens, zoom in, zoom out etc. pushing a remote control in your hand is much more convenient than reaching for the screen and draw icons.
Of course, you can't enter text with a remote control like you could with mouse guesture. However, I'm working on some Girder script that would let me use the numbers on my RC's keypad to enter text like you would on a cell phone.
I'll definitly agree remotes aren't a bad interface for a small number of simple tasks and can be more convienent if you already have the remote in your hand and the layout is such that you can reach the buttons you need without looking at it. I'll even go so far to say that steering wheel remotes are the ultimate simple task interface for vehicles bar none. The problem I found with using hand held remotes though is you have to constantly work to keep them convienent. I've never been able to memorize the layout of more then 7 or so buttons and I lose them all the time when I'm driving if I even remember to find it when I get in the car. Then I'll have it on my lap and next fast turn I take, there goes the remote. With gesturing, you never lose your interface cause its a large 7" touchscreen and you just have to remember M will get you to music etc. The simple things like play, pause, next, previous, zoom in, zoom out are all bound in StreetDeck to simple lines so you just have to remember which direction to make the line and recognition will be near 100% on them.Originally Posted by b8bboi

I found an app that will give you this functionality over ANY application. It wasn't as fancy, but it worked. Search my posts on related subject, since I posted a ink to it....

I find it more amusing the a streetdeck guy is promoting the idea of cloning their software. Way to be a good sport!
