    Question Help Please!

Hi there, i have a problem with amp pop on turn on at the moment which is driving me crazy... I really want to use the windows service to activate the dtr pin on the serial port on windows boot to switch a transistor and turn on my amps, but the only link i can find for this program is dead. I tried asking in the car audio section if anyone had it, but have recieved no reply... so can anyone either make one, send me a copy or give me instructions how to make this program?! I would be really greatful if someone could help me because i basically cant use the audio in my car at the moment in case the pop destroys my speakers!

    Thanks,

    Nick

Why not just use a hardware solution... I have a carnetix P1900 for my accessories.. and it has a delay on signal.. that turns on a couple of seconds after everything else.. I use this to turn on my amps after my carpc is started...

i do plan to use a hardware solution (M2-ATX) to achieve this but not every1 has a system that can use these specialised PSU's due to power restrictions (my brother in law has a very power hungry system) this would be perfect for his needs.

How will the M2-ATX solve that problem? doesnt it have the same anti bump device as the m1-ATX? which is only about 5 seconds!

you also get units that are specifically made JUST to stop your amps from popping...

David Navone Amp Turn on delay (pop eliminator)

Yeah i have an anti pop on my m1-atx, but since im using an external usb sound card, it doesnt come on until windows boots and the drivers are loaded so i have to delay the turn on until after that, i could use an anti pop device but it needs to be upwards of 20 seconds and the only one ive see which does that is the david navone one and i cant get that since i live in england and shipping would make it cost an extortionate amount... The dtr program ensures that the amps only come on when windows is done booting every time and turns them off before the sound card is turned off, so would solve the problem properly...

hmm.. I have a USB Audigy sound card .. and it comes on the moment I supply power to it.. which is (for my setup) the same time I provide power to my PC... then 5 seconds later the Carnetix supplies power to turn on my amps...

this works very well for me

Hmm.. Weird, cos im also using the USB audigy nx... im running it via the carnetix 12-5v transformer which gets its power from a relay which is tripped by the amp remote turn on from the m1-atx... The amps come on at the same time from the same relay, but i get the big pop only when windows is booting (when the sound drivers are loaded and windows starts talking to the audigy)

I turn my audigy on BEFORE I turn my amps on.. and I get no pop when windows comes on...
