Cobra was bought out by some guy and became a closed system after that that never went anywhere. You might be able to find the old version some place, but probably not hosted where it originally was when it was still freeware.
Does anyone have a copy of cobra? (Assuming that it was freeware/shareware) I know that it would be outdated in comparison to modern fronts but I am feeling nostalgic, and a bit curious.

Let me know what you want? I have the instructions and everything. I was going to put this on my third (carPc) one after i built it. I remember using this on my very first TruckPc. It was the greatest thing at the time. All on a 233Mhz computer i built. It was "fast"!!!!!

Cobra was one of the first front ends that I know of. I used to use it back in the late 1990's. It was named after the developer's handle - Cobra. He had a Ford Cobra. It was actually a pretty robust frontend if I remember.Originally Posted by RoyN
It didn't really support skinning, but you could tweak it a bit. I know you could change the backgrounds I believe. I think I used to use it with my IRMan back in the day with a remote control. I remember it having hideous green colored fonts, that you couldn't change. Maybe some of the other versions that riddle has are more customizable.
This frontend was out way before touchscreens were affordable. I never followed up with where the Cobra project evolved to...
I had heard that it had moved onto a pay-for project, but never found out what name it was sold under.
I have a couple old versions that I will be serving up at mobile-effects for those interested. It seems that a lot of people are going back to the basics and looking for some of the old school software out there. That's good to see.
Does anyone know if Cobra was the first frontend out?
