Just found this and thought it was pretty interesting. You could set up a web server on your machine, and if you're running Win98, you could make an html page and run the desktop as active, then access and play your MP3's from the desktop. Pretty neat.

Nice, but you can't change the way it looks, and that color scheme would be difficult to read in the car on a small screen.
The thing I liked about Andromeda is that you can change the look of it by just coding a little in html.
i think it was bgoodman who posted a neat little winamp plugin that once running would act itself as a webserver on your machine.....
then u just fire a browser to 'localhost'/ip and then you can click links to play/stop/skip mp3s on winamp.... and you can change the HTML page to whatever you want...... you could do active desktop too!
it was called (since i still have it installed) ... 'Vyktor XML server' do a search for it on winamp.com... this is nicer since the server component has a much lower overhead to that of a full IIS/apachie web server.... keep this in mind for the car!
Project - GAME OVER :(
handy winamp plugin for the thread

I've been working on one myself that reads all mp3s from a folder, throws all the info in a database and is searchable and playable from a Flash interface. This way it is pretty much 100 configurable as well as resizable.
Works fairly well so far, but still working on it.
Hmmm, just checked out the 2 other PHP MP3 Streaming scripts and I might see if I can use those with my Flash interface....I don't have song cues built into mine yet, might be easier just to port one of those over...
im interested in that flash thing...a great tool for keeping track
Vyktor XML server is a revalation!!!!!! I have just got it up and running wow, easy to configure and write skins for and it works.........
Orangewhip, I'd love to see your flash interface.....any screenshots??

Not much of an interface right now, basically I have MP3s streaming into Flash (which needs to be done with a CDI) and have made a BASIC Flash interface to start with. Obviously, any interface could be made with Flash, so it is only upto the imagination...including "SKINS".
