Need opinions!!! on new file explorer for car use

I am trying to redesign CarShell to be a (hopefully) useable shell for the car. A major part of the undertaking is to design a replacement for explorers my computer and file dialog boxes. I want it to be flexible enough to accomplish most anything you can do in explorer, but easy enough to use on a 7" touchscreen.

I started working on the skinning engine and realized that I needed to get some input on what will work and what does not.

Below is an example, When first opened this window would display icons for you HD(s), CD roms, USB drive(s), Desktop, and control panel. If you clicked on say your c:\ another tab would open along the top and the contents of your root of that drive would be displayed, if you clicked on a folder listed there (say your Program Files folder) another tab is created up top and the contents of the folder are displayed. If you were to click on a executable program the program would open, and if you were to click on a data file the default program for its type is run and the file opened.

cut, copy, paste, move, delete, rename, will all be done using a click and hold context menu.

Thoughts? ideas? criticisms?

not yet, I am currently working on the skinning engine. So I am trying to figgure out the best way to make it work.

Way too flashy for me. I prefer the normal windows icons. Take explorer, make the buttons, scroll-bar, and text bigger, then you are golden. I wouldn't change the icons at all.
