GPS tracking client/server software help needed
I posted over at chasenet because the guys there are very good at this sort of thing but they are gonna need some assistance with the GPS. Can somebody volunteer to help out over there so we can get some really cool tracking software?
the server on the carputer will connect directly to the client on your desktop via a free DNS (i.e. http://www.no-ip.com ) since most of us have dynamic IP's. On connection it will save your vehicles current position to the client and possibly enter it into a map so you can see where your car is. There can also be an option to download a history log of everywhere your car has been if you can get a connection for long enough. Live tracking like gpssecure should also be included but without the use of a separate server. This way your only relying on your own system and not someone elses server. I could see this being expanded into a full suite of remote vehicle control features. Think of the possibilities. starter kill, window control, door lock control, full gps tracking and on and on.
