Custom gauges for engine management software, non-OBD2

All right all you programming gurus. I need some advice. I have the AEM engine management system (ecu) for my car to control the fuel and ignition. With my laptop (via serial conn), I can run their software called AEMPro that can view all the telemetry and make real-time changes to the engine calibration. Their latest firmware allows their ecu to output telemetry of all the car's sensors across the serial stream to be viewed by their "serial gauges" ($250 each). Unfortunately, the ecu only has one serial port and it is hooked to my laptop--the ecu uses two different serial datastream protocols which cannot be run over the serial port at the same time. Now, I could have Frodoplayer or Roadrunner opened and have AEMPro running in the background, but it is a very cumbersome piece of software. I would like to be able to take the other serial stream of data (the telemetry data only) and then make my own gauges and skin them into my frontend. How much of a difficult task am I looking at here?
Here is what the AEM's telemetry setup looks like...

    Hell no.

Im looking for basically the same info with a little twist... I would like software/hardware, that can give boost info, oil pressure, etc on screen.

I'd like to see how far u get tho.

Wait...so, lemme understand this a bit better. Bear with me, while I confirm the answers to a couple of basic questions.

    - The AEM ECU is a piece of hardware, hardwired into your car. This piece of hardware has a serial port for communications/data transfer/control etc etc. Correct?
    - The AEM ECU comes with software that talks to the hardware over that serial port. Correct?
    - The hardware can produce two different data streams depending on what's being asked for. Either it's telemetry data or control data being sent to the device. Correct? And this is done by the AEM software. Correct?

Now, do you know the structure of that telemetry data stream? i.e. bits and bytes?

Careful Al - the OP is 4 years old! Since then I suspect MS Vista has fixed the problem. (lol)

Joey woke a sleeping beast (or beauty?).
But I too understand his disappointment.

PS (after the next "oh crap") - yep - been there, done that!
I guess you could delete, but who cares...
We inform noobs so they learn the "obvious" that we know.
We see the more experienced miss the thread age - we smile and realise how we all skim and assume etc. But we are thankful for the reply - it's much better than missing one!
Besides, it can awake updates, reviews, or new solutions!
I hope I still believe that at my next crap!
