    MOST and CarPC's

Okay, so I am about to undertake possibly the hardest hobby project of my life but before I get started I would see if its even possible, haha.

My main objective is to create a CarPC that interfaces directly with the Center Control Module (herein refered to as the CCM). This controls all audio functions as well as climate controls through a visual display on an OEM 2-Tone LCD screen. So I was going to replace this LCD and the CD loader above it with a 7" Touch screen running some front end that will obviously need tweaking in order to send and recieve the correct signals.

Is there a way, as of right now, to design a front end to display the OEM controls and interface with the MOST system?

I know that most of the CCM functions are controled by a CAN and 2 LIN networks whos signals are sent to the LCD/Head Unit and then dispersed into the MOST network for vol. up and down, etc...

The car is a 2005 Volvo S40 T5, but any light you CarPC vet's may have on this would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

Unfortunately not. It appears that even a simple iPod solution to the current iteration of the MOST system in my car is out of reach. I love how they develope such advance systems that nothing else can integrate with them.....sheesh.

There have been some other options but none that I find worth while as they are not fully integrated units, just add on DVD, GPS, MP3 players so you still have to use the originla screen if you want to turn the volume up or down or set the climate controls.

Yeah... I've loooked extensively... the best option would be an audio/video input from NavTV but that runs over $1500!!! they are ****in crazy!

I wish my car had the BMW system (BMW system was until 2004MY... the bmw system allows full integration with the radio, ipod listing and control through radio, as well as ibus, and a whole lotta other goodies!)

I'd like to know if anyone finds any solutions to the MOST issue.

This is one area that the CarPC market is missing out on functionality.
