    Windows incorrectly reports drive size

I have run into a problem while putting my system together. I have an ata 100 10g maxtor drive on a epox ep-3s2a mb, runnig a clean install of 98lite (micro). Windows reports the drive's properties as 0 bytes used and 1.99gb free. If I go into dos and run fdisk, the partition size is reported correctly and the dir comm. shows the proper amount of used/free space. There is actually 2.76g of data on the drive and everything appears to be running fine.

Is this something I should be concerned about or is it just a glitch in the os?

If it is a matter that needs to be taken care of, is there any way to fix it besides reformatting and reloading?

    Thanks

This is a Win98 glitch. If you show details in Explorer and click on My Computer it should give you the right details for all your drives but the little Pie Chart only goes up to 2GB i think...

    Thanks for the response

Actually what i'm doing is going into explorer and right clicking on the drive and selecting properties. Now if I do the same thing on my 3 other machines (drives are all bigger than 10g) explorer displays the correct information. The only difference between the other machines and my proposed car player is they're not running 98lite pro (micro install), could the 98lite be causing this?

    It's not a Win98 glitch, it's a Win95 glitch. You're using the shell from Win95 right? I think that's the problem.

Take a look at the FAQ on www.98lite.net . I remember reading about this at their website.

This is what they say at 98lite.net:

This is a Microsoft BUG that is hard-coded into the Windows 95 Explorer.exe such that it doesn't display the pie-chart correctly whenever the free-space or used space exceeds 2GB. However the corresponding values above the pie-chart are always showing correct sizes as will any other explorer or third-party display-tools. This is cosmetic only, ignore it if you can!
