Software Tip: If you want to control Winamp using buttons

then try this program: COM-port Winamp Control

You can connect 4 or 15 buttons to one serial port. Every button can be used for 3 different functions.
There are 49 different functions to choose from, and the most important ones, at least for me, is that you can have a button that skips directories and one that shuts down Windows.

It can also start Winamp on startup. So instead of using Winamp as shell, I'm using this program. When the computer starts and the shell is loaded, winamp automatically starts. When I want to shut down Windows, I just have to press a button.

I love it. Now all I need to control my mp3-player is 4 buttons. One for play, stop, pause; two for ffw/rewind; next/previous track and next/previous folder, and one for shutdown + other things like shuffle or something.

you can even interface the same thing under girder and control virtually anything... if you're interested, and even if the thread is old... using search have bad results of resurecting old threads

I have wired up a couple of controllers
    2x 15 buttons
    1x 4 buttons

And I cant get the LEDS to light correctly?
In the 15 button controller led it is on perminatly and dims when the button is pressed no matter what the software is set to do, I have tried different setting for the resistor as well?

The four buttton does similar things?

I am using the LCDisplay plugin v0.6.4Alpha from
www.markuszehnder.ch that is supposed to be able to flash the backlight when a button is pressed this doesn't work either

    Software win98se
    winamp 2.9

The function I want is for a led/light to flash when a button is pressed.

    anybody done this

i know its over a 5 year old update, but this program still works with the latest version of winamp and its a very good way to get that physical button in your car to use with RRVoice.

its also excellent for volume control and application launching.

here is the winamp's site link to the program- http://www.winamp.com/plugin/com-por...rol-v142/92855
