    Smile winamp plug in idea

I wasn't sure how to search for this so I decided to post. I just got a test version of my mp3 player in my car and I was thinking about how the final setup would run and I had this idea.

You get a certain feel when listening to the radio that it's live and not predetermined (even if it is) and what contributes to this feeling is a little clip they play every few songs. "You're listening to Tower98, monroe's hit music station." You know?

Has a program or winamp plug in been written to allow this? I know people use startup and shutdown sounds but what about sounds inbetween songs? I picture it as a simple little interface allowing you to choose from one or more clips and the number of songs that it will cycle through before playing one of the clips.

For example, I'm listening to my top40 playlist and after listening to 3 songs it plays a short clip saying "You're listening to Top40 on BlueStormMP3!" or "Classic rock now playing on BlueStormMP3" or variations thereof to give it a more varied feel so you don't hear the exact same clip each time.

It seems like a simple program to write but I'm just now getting into programming basic C so winamp dlls seems a little out there to me. What do you guys think?

I use a program called DJ amp. It acts as a DJ and talks between songs. I found another one called "winamp talking", but have not really tried it. You can even have dj amp say a trigger phrase based on words in the song title or artists name.

You can do a search on winamp and find the DJ amp program. There is no website for the program that I know of.
