    Gps Ideas

Well i been wondering everyone has seen the sattelite aerial pics on mapquest. How neat would be to use those pics as GPS navigation? =) I know it's not GREAT resolution but its certainly more fun than looking at than lines and colors on most of the comercial software out there. I guess I would have to write a script of some sort to save the sat. shots in highest detail of every part of my city and then somehow paste it together in adobe lol.

    just my $0.02.

    any comments?

    Yeah...real easy - LOL

You'd only have to weave all those areal shots together but you'd have to set cords. for each and every road.

You can get the maps off of mapquest and use them with GPSDrive. I don't think it'll work with the aerial photography, though.

You wouldn't have to set coordinates for each and every road. As long as you have coordinates for one point, and you have a well put together aerial view of the area, you should be able to do math routines to get coordinates for each pixel on the image. Again, I'm not saying this would work on a big scale due to error with the Earth being spherical, but I think it should be fine for a city. The hardpart would be getting together a good aerial view of your city, but it's possible!

Most of those photos I have seen are several years old. Could be missing a lot of roads

Haha, dang, and I thought they were like daily shots.
