    IS BUFFER like ESP or G protection ?

    i was wondering if there was a whay to have a buffer read ahead a CD because i'm sure my desktops CD drive was'nt meant to br sshook espacially since the roads in HAITI are mostly holes it's like driving on the CHEDAR ....
    Apple Ipod 20gig 4th gen black and white. Saves you lots of time. and a pocketpc with wifi for the ocasional email cheking and mapping at a hotspot.

    All "modern" operating systems (ie Windows, Linux, etc., and even DOS) usually implement some sort of read ahead cache/buffer for most, if not all, block devices (cdrom, hard drive, etc.). Also, it is usually transparent to the user space app, though you can adjust some of it's parameters and even disable it (like the new "raw" I/O devices in Linux).
