who types and drives? I dont. I do all that crap before i leave the driveway. And if i really need to type something in while driveing, like a new route in the gps, i pull over.
Not worth dieing trying to type a street name IMO.

i think your missing the whole point here.

thats like the T9 type on most cell phones, prbably can be very useful in the car enviroment as well.

It says you can download the pda software for free. Someone needs to play with it and build a pc based version. Not sure how fast you could do it with your finger on a touch screen. Sure does look like there concentrating hard.
Um, I guess this is where you put something witty.WITTY

i dont think anyones gonna type that fast in the car, or intends to, shes doing like 70wpm. But i do think this is an easier and faster way than any of the current touchscreen OSK's available.

Its kind of like T9 on a cellphone, but way better. On the cellphones usually its not qwerty its abc def and the phones split the alphabet up on 12 buttons.
This onlly uses SIX buttons for the whole qwerty layout. Ive been using it on my pda for a few hours and im hooked. Im glad its free, else i would have to pay for it.
This would be the default osk for carputers if there were a version. I like it that much.

Might be new to PDAs, but I've read about things like this long ago.

Still, might be cool for song entry or something. Thought items that need training usually suck.

One way that could speed it up would be the addition of a "cancel" button, which would cycle you through the next mapping. Then it could just keep stats to figure out what you usually mean.

Say you are trying to type "won"

Interesting idea, although I don't know how suited it is for Carpc use. Most of the typing your doing in a car is for song information or street names, and these probally wouldn't be in the dictionary of words. Although if the software could search through your mp3s' tags for words and add them to its dictionary I would be interested. But you still have the problem of street/city names.
