which version of windows? And is it nlited? tinyXP?
I have a via M1000 MB with 512mb or ram and a laptop Hd.
it's taking me 8 months to do this project because I'm a chronic procrastinator and I've run into every single problem I could have.
Now my problem is windows freezes when the white line goes across the screen right before the logo.
Its not a power problem
its not ram
No usb devices connected except the Touchscreen
the HD works perfectly on my home computer where I installed windows and loaded everything up.
Please help me. I can't take it any more.

Windows installation detects and installs drivers for your mobo and other hardware and configures itself for them. If it didn't have to configure itself for the system it was being installed on during installation, then there wouldn't be much point to actually having an installation program, other than to ask you where you wanted to put it. If you install windows on one machine and then transfer the HD to another machine with a similar mobo/processor, then it sometimes works okay and you can just install the drivers for the new computer and be on your way. I have done this before, going from one AMD socket A mobo to another; it's not a 'pretty' solution, as windows is usually pretty confused about drivers and such after the switch, but it can work.
However, you should not expect a copy of windows installed on an AMD or intel desktop machine (which I'm assuming is what you started with) to work on a VIA C3 processor and mobo, they are just too different. I tried this switch between XP installed on a socket A athlon, to a socket 754 mobo/processor, and it failed miserably; as soon as it started to load windows it just restarted every time.
But don't take it from me! here's a quote from a real, live newbie:

I have yet to ever get that repair "feature" to work. You basically need the system to be fully working, then make a repair disk, and use that when you want to repair. Like system restore, but hardcopy.

Did you install XP originally on a computer with SMP (e.g. HyperThreaded Pentium 4)? If so, it might be as simple as replacing the SMP kernel with a non-SMP kernel.
