I am quite poor with flash, so need to do some more work. The basic principal is very clever - I have never used flash in vb to this extent and it really is very easy!

Any DVD player that is direct show compliant *should* work fine from the mediaplayer ocx. Otherwise, you could try using the controls from interactual's PC Friendly software, but all this really does is communicate to the decoder through direct show anyway. AFAIK, both Powerdvd XP (also 3 works fine) and Windvd work like this - the only player i have ever met that didn't was Zoran's Soft DVD. Anyway, I haven't written the DVD part of my app yet - I am still learning flash...

I would say so. I am writing my DivX video playback code at the moment, using the API with winmm.dll (windows multimedia). makes the playback VERY easy..... of course you need the approporate DivX codec installed (no brainer). I can forward the code if you like (planetsourcecode.com should have some DVD specific code for VB)

as I understand it, DVD playback is no problem, you just need the DVD decoder software installed into your windows machine, and AFAIK that code/driver is chargeable back to 'the DVD org' for usage, alot like mp3 encoder/decoder usage in software packages is technically chargeable back to Frauhofer/IIS.

thats the trouble I had at the start with my DVD-ROM, found lots of 'freeware' DVD players, but they all needed DVD decoding software (the $$$'s) bit installed first from another player/hardware card.
    Project - GAME OVER :(
