every time I start winamp the volume goes back to the defult 90% is there a setting that keeps the volume to the last place I change it to?
winamp gets its volume setting from the current WAVE OUT volume setting on your sound card. Its the same control that is managed when you double click that little yellow speaker in the right hand corner of the taskbar of windows and the mixer controls pop up.
Thus I would say that your soundcard mixer software is resetting this value when u start up windows..... winamp does not store the volume setting itself.....
not entirely true...Winamp Does store the last volume and so does the OS. For it to NOT store the last volume, tells me something is changing the value of "volume" in the winamp.ini file. Or on the other hand something might also be changing ur sound mixer volume
I am searching for a solution to a similar problem, I dont have this problem all the time, just some times. I dont have a TFT screen in my car just a character LCD so it sucks cause i got to drag a monitor out to my car pull out my carputer, run extension cords and everything just to set the volume. its gheto. cause my volume is controled by the master volume with girder, so i just leave winamp volume at 100% but sometimes it will set itself to 0%. BLAH! I am thinking that there might somewhere out ther be a plugin that sets the winamp volume on load. but i have not found it yet if it exists
I use WinAmp 2.9 with no problems with volume control. If you kill the power to the computer then it will go back to the previous volume setting when you last shut down properly.
i am using 2.92 and the volume stays where it was the last time winamp was open. I usually leave it around 10% which is decent listening volume.
it's inside winamp.ini, volume= where max is 255 and 0 is...well 0 :)
hmmm is there any way to make a batch file that edits the volume line of winamp.ini so that it sets volume=240?
cfg_buf_ms=2000
cfg_dev=0
cfg_volume=1
cfg_altvol=0
cfg_resetvol=0
cfg_prebuf=0
cfg_trackhack2=0
I seen these in the bottom of winamp.ini... is the resetvol what is happening to me? It doesnt always set the volume all the way down. only sometimes. maybe one of these options would make it so that when it resets it resets to the appropriate volume instead of no volume
make a .bat that copies winamp_backup.ini into winamp.ini and overwrites w/o promt
