    Windows Media Player 10

    Hi,

I have been thinking about writing my own front-end in Visual Basic .Net. I have previously used Visual Basic and am learning .Net from a book. I have made a basic MP3 player using the standard media player in VB, but I would like to know how to use WMP10 in my front-end. Please could someone tell me what ocx, dll file I need to use and how to get the media player into my toolbox.

Thanks, and sorry if this question has been answered in another thread, I have looked for ages.

It's been a long time since I've looked into this but I believe Microsoft has a SDK for doing this. I'm sure a quick look on google will point you to it.
AMD XP 2600+/512MB RAM/120GB hard drive
    Opus 150W/DVD/GPS/7" Lilliput TS/802.11g/Bluetooth
    Installed.

    -GPSSecure- - GPS Tracking
    -AltTabber2.2.2- - Handy touchscreen utility.

Yeah, the MP 10 is a COM object, you won't be able to drag it into your toolbox. Just include it in your project and use the online documentation of the COM object.

Thanks for the reply, but I have looked everywhere and also downloaded the WMP 10 SDK and I cannot get it to work with VB 2005. I have read some information about it on the Microsoft site, but cannot get it to work.

Can anyone give me a small piece of code and some guidance of how to get WMP 10 working in VB 2005 and where to put any files, dll's, com's etc.

    Thanks

Im not really up to date about wm programming, but some time ago I played mp3 and video files in c++ using the Direct Show SDK, don't know if it's already dated.

Right. I've downloaded the WMP10 SDK, WMP9 SDK and DirectX9 SDK but can't actually use any of them in Visual Basic 2005. I don't really understand how to include them in my program! If I right click the toolbox and click 'Choose Items', I get the box up with asks which components I want to use '.NET' and 'COM' components. How do I get WMP9, WMP10 or a part of DirectX9 into my project.

All the sample code is for VB2003 and it doesn't seem to convert to 2005 properly. PLease can someone point me in the way of a very easy step-by-step guide to getting me through this problem. I'm not new to programming, but I am new to Object Orientated Programming and need a little help.

    Thanks
