why a frontedn when OS has everything?

    My question:
I'm playing around with RoadRunner and I got to say it looks nice. It has bugs but its generally nice.

Why do u need to use a frontend written with bugs when u have a OP which you can modify for your needs?

Windows can be setup in a nice way. (desktop, application, boot, startup folder, winplayer (URGE), in XP Pro you can customize a lot.. and so on...

The frontend roadrunner looks nice but i have bugs in and out. I understand that for a few things u need a application. you can be sure that the applications run 99.99% without having any problems. the roadrunner i just downloaded, i don't know.. it has some bugs so far.....

    so feed me some input?

The whole idea of a frontend is to make it easier to navigate to the functionality you want in a vehicle.
Sure, you can tweak your Windoze setup to give you the same functionality and make it touchscreen friendly and all that.

However, I challenge you to gracefully and safely switch between GPS navigation and a media player without the use of a front-end.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

i would be willing to bet most of the things you are calling bugs in RR are things you failed to setup correctly. Ive found RR to be pretty much very bug free. Sure there are a few issues from time to time, but guini does a very good job at killing any new bugs. Matter of fact i dont think i can recall any bugs in RR that lived to make it to the next release update, they usually get killed in the beta updates inbetween releases.

As far as configureing windows to be touch screen friendly, are you serious?
Like DarquePervert said, i would like to see you switching between GPS nav, media player, stop all music playing and load up another playlist (esp using wmp11 & Urge) and for iceing on the cake turn the volume down to 30% and do it safely.

Now is that the plural? are you suggesting there is more than one of him that is why updates come so often.

    or

Is that the feminine? and are you suggesting his wife now wears the programing pants.

DP, I prove you wrong on this.
In fact, I did use winamp and iG without any front end in my Supra setup. Yes, I have Frodoplayer and RR installed but rarely use them. Why? The setup doesn't have TS so FE isn't as usefull. Remote control and Girder make changing task/song in the fast lane is really easy .
Oh yeah, Car2PC adapter make thing even sweeter
For safety, I think it's safer than looking at the screen and press, but that is depend on the user. If you know where and what every buttons are on either TS or Remote, they can be equally in safety.

Again, the whole front end idea is make thing easier rather than the OS along.
Regarding to RoadRunner, yes, it has bugs but as a normal user you won't be able to tell whether it's a bug or "feature". I am sure like LS said, most bugs you encounter is most likely "user bugs".
