Copilot Style GPS for the UK / Europe?!

I've been searching far and wide for a gps system like copilot that maps the uk and europe with no help. Can someone please see if their copy of copilot includes uk maps or if they are available to purchase - the travroute site on www.travroute.com seems to be down at the moment!

Also, does anyone know of any other software that offers the simple large views that copilot does - it seems to be the only one that has these excellent features.

    Cheers

It doesnt. The FAQ says there are no plans to include maps for the UK at this time.

Im looking for the same. Im using the Sony Streetmate package at the moment which is OK, and does give you a nice remote to use with the GPS as well, which I find makes my system look more "retail" rather than home made.

Id love to have CoPilot though, it looks great. Perhaps we could send em nasty messages until they sort it out.

Its from GPS Warehouse, and is supplied as a bundle, with PCMCIA GPS card (which also supports NMEA by the flick of a switch), Remote, and software. I think they may have sold out but I expect they will get more soon.

Sadly, because it was developed by ETAK, the supplied software uses ETAK data, not NMEA, so it will only use the supplied card.

On the upside, you do get turn by turn speech guidance and good mapping, something of a rarity here in UK.

BTW, In Poole, Dorset. Nearly in the same county!

Travroute licence thier PocketCopilot software to Compaq in the UK, for use with the IPAQ handheld device, so UK mapping does exist in their format. However, I think their reluctance to release the laptop version here may be related to this. Maybe the signed some kind of deal.

hehe that wouldn't suprise me. I don't think i can use the software cause i don't have a pcmcia card and as it doesn't accept nmea data i am stuck. Ahh well back to the drawing board. I really don't want to hack about too much but i might write my own interface for autoroute 2002 - we drove all the way across europe with this and it seemed pretty good. It does give turn by turn instructions but doesn't speak them or show map's for them. However, it does print mini maps out so there must be a way to get at them!

    Cheers

Cheers - looks like I'll have to buy 2k2 then Or I might just stick with 2001 - it saves buying the new version for far too much money!
