vb <> flash

Hi all,

Is there a way of communication from vb to flash? I've made my interface, but I would like to give feedback to the interface (spectrum analyzer, or more simple just the current volume setting, or for howlong a track has been playing etc....) ?

I searched the internet but had no luck, seems to me (please please correct me) that the only thing possible is to write to a textfile (in vb) and let flash read it every second or so?

Hehe I was being very stupid and trying to do it as a vis plugin and pass data via a tcpip server to my interface program! Durr...

Gutter, how would you go about changing the height of a spectrum analyser in flash?? I am ok about passing the data to flash as a variable, but don't know what to do with it in flash - my actionscript e.t.c. is very poor!

any other sprectrum analyzers for VB?? I am using the media player active x control and want to make a spectrum to show peak values while the music plays.....

I do believe it works with all soundcards, too.

I'm too lazy to upload my code right now, but let me know if you want examples. The included samples should make it easy as pie, though.

I'm not sure. I ran into this guy's page a few months ago and bookmarked it. I've only glanced at it.

I remember it only listens on Line in or Microphone. It would have to be mondified to analyze mp3s.

As for the variables, what are you trying to pass to it?

The only thing I pass to my flash frontend is the song artist, title, and time. It captures all of the keystrokes and then sends them to VB. What exactly are you trying to do?
