Reduce "End Now" dialog time when Shutdown

    Hello,

How do we reduce the "End Now" showing time when we shutdown windows? I have done it in my home pc but can't find the Thread anymore to do it on my CarPC.

Sometimes when I come back to my Car, I find the PC still on with an Dialog box "END NOW" or "CANCEL"

It is now exactly what I want.

When a program hangs during shut down and I receive the Dialog box and a counter with "End Now", it usually takes 30secs for the counter to finish.

I remember reducing this to 5secs. from somewhere in the registry but i don't remember where it was...

    Anyone?

    Thanks

    you can try this:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\ControlPanel\Desktop\AutoEndTas ks and set the value to 1 it is set to 0 as standard

    usual registry editing rules apply

Hey, I've actually not found a solution to this problem yet. If you do manage to reduce this end now time, please post back on how to do it. Thanks!

Hey nobb, I was just coming to close this thread as it was discussed in another post, the best solution for your is to get the M2-atx or Opus... it will save you alot of headache... otherwise, follow the steps below, it did eliminate at 99% my winXP hanging problems..

How do you prevent shutdown hang (and killing your battery)

    Hi.
My mistake. I thought by your end now problem, you were getting the shutdown timer countdown on shutdown (shutdowns work fine, but they just take ~1 min). My carputer has not actually hung on shutdown. I just made that other thread to see other people's suggestions on combatting a potential shutdown hang. Thanks anyways.
