    Flash bitmap problem

I`m getting this wierd problem in flash where bitmaps look fine in the library, but when they are in the workspace or in the final .swf file, the bitmap looks "wrong".... see the attached pic to see what i mean. If anyone could shed some light on this mystery, it would help a geat deal. Thanx in advance.

try changing the size of the bitmap on the stage to 99% x and y scale, its a flash bug. Might not be your prob, but worth a try.

Also, why use a bitmap for that button when one that looks much better can be made wholly in flash in vector form?

Also could be that in the Flash Publish Settings it always puts a JPEG compression on images in the SWF. If you don't want to have the Flash JPG compression, you can go into the library, "right-click" on the image you are using and change the images compression from Lossy - JPEG to Lossless - GIF/PNG. This will then not compress the images again.

Ummm, I guess scratch my last comment, didn't look at the image until AFTER I wrote my post. Looks like you are already using Lossless.

Problem solved! I tried Jarrod's suggestion of resizing to 99%, and it worked like a charm. I`d already set the output settings to 100% quality, as I thought this was probably the problem before. One last thing...

Using vectors would be better, as a smaller flash file would be produced, but I`m not to bothered about filesize. I`ve been using Photoshop for a lot longer than flash, so i find it easier create all my graphics in Photoshop, save 'em as PNG, and use it in flash.
Thanx for the help everyone, back to the grindstone now, this whole interface business takes much longer than anticipated.

Jarrod: Would you happen to have anymore info on this flash bug? It`s just that I now have to go through all the bitmaps (like 50+) and change each one individually to 99% x and y scale. If I could download a update or something to fix this big, it would be much better. Thanx.

EDIT: Just as i posted this, I found some info on macromedia's site: http://www.macromedia.com/support/fl...maps_shift.htm . Though i`d might aswell post it incase anyone has a similar problem. I think I might have to redo all my button graphics in vector format, once i get this interface working.

    Sorry :(

There is no fix for this problem, yet. Not sure if flash MX has fixed this bug, worth a look. What are you using this flash movie for anyway? I am thinking about making a custom app. for my mp3car system, using a 5.6" LCD to display it. But I got no idea how to do anything except for make the front-end flash 'skin'.

Anyone interested in making a VB backend that talks to winamp and a DVD player then letting me skin it with flash?

Just for the record, i`m using flash MX... so the bug still remains. I`m also planning on doing a VB backend, but I thought i`d get the flash bit done first.
