looking for program to invert audio waves

i am trying to have a noise cancellation, i have a mirophone mounted in the headliner

my audio set up goes through a computer, with SB X-Fidelity audio card, i have 1.8 Mhz Athlon, which is pretty fast processor for the needs.

question, what softwares are available to invert wavelenghts, and play simultaniously with the audio, or by itself, for noise cancellation, or am i better off designing something stand alone, with small amp, and few hidden speakers

eventually i am thinking, of noise cancelling my engine bay, with few parabolic sensors, and speakers, and my borla exhaust, so i can go stealth mode when running from cops

i know noise cancellation is most successful in headphones, because it will cancel out specific waves targeted @ your ear, rather than something big, that produces noise from multiple location, cancelling at least 50%-60% percent of noise is a success for me

Did you forget about your previous thread on exactly this topic?
    Noise Cancellation Frequency Inverter

Or are you hoping that in a new thread people won't just tell you all over again how this just isn't going to work?

Despite the fact that it's been over 2 months since the first time you asked this, the questions you asked suggests that you still don't have a good grasp of the nature of audio signals or sound waves, or the basics of how noise cancellation actually works.

And that doesn't sound far-fetched to you at all?
But don't take it from me! here's a quote from a real, live newbie:

    Evan

i do understand it all, so please don't bug me all over gain with the same explanation, i have looked at the topic i haven't seen any software refferals, besides, on of the nvidia driver's that have that feature.

the reason i wrote this info down, is to give some sence of why i would need such program

i know i have a slim chance on wroking on this, but i least i can do some experimenting, which better, than not doing anuthing at all

with regards to noise cancelling... one of the key's to success is the amount of time it takes to reverse the noise. as soon as the noise hits your mic, you have to processes quicker than the sound can come out again, and release at the same time. A software process cannot do that in real time, at least not with the operating system and everything else you have to do.

Inside the cabin, it's possible with some clever modelling and carefeul positioning and tuning. As for the egine and exauhst noise idea.... well, I do like your imagination but the application is impossible! I guess it would be possible, but you would probably need a few million to set up a research compound, and produce all sorts of moulding that would no longer make it a car, but rather a big experiment, and then hope that you can get some bright students to take on the phd's you offer!
