directory sync

Im sure most of you have a ton of mp3s on your comp, and im sure most of you have the same on your carputer, I'm looking for an easy peice of reliable software that will compare your directory of music on your main computer and your directory of music on your carputer and sync them easiliy over the LAN.
I'v seareched for something like this, but have only found crappy programs. Anybody have any suggestions?

You're looking for robocopy. I run:

robocopy E:\MP3 \\impee3\d\mp3 /PURGE

and it syncs up the two directories based on the source directory. The /PURGE option will delete files on the destination drive that are not found in your source directory. AFAIK, it only works on NT/W2k/XP, but you can give it a shot if you're on 95/98.

(You might have to rename the attachment to robocopy.rar to uncompress it. I renamed it to zip so I could upload it.)

tried downloading robocopy but it downloads a corrupt file...and i trieds renaming to robocopy.rar also??

any other reliable syn programs out there?

It's rar'ed instead of zipped. WinRAR has a better compression scheme, so I don't use WinZIP anymore.

Right click -> Save As robocopy.RAR -> Use WinRAR to decompress it

I had to rename it to zip to upload it.

*Edit* I just tried downloading it and it worked fine. You might need WinRAR 3.x.

in windows, instead of making a folder, you could make a briefcase/portfolio that you could sync with another briefcase/portfolio, right click -> create and there you go!

I'm working on it - I expect to have it done to workable alpha in a few days, with a beta in a week or so - I'm adding stuff like cddb sync and in fact any single file sync at the moment. Directories of mp3's were working well but were a bit slow so I removed them from the msync software I posted about here b4.
