Works pretty good and fast... Running on vista ultimate
All you have to do is delete the "LaunchCondition" row from the two Install tables (InstallExecuteSequence and InstallUISequence)![]()
Well I know you can edit the wallpaper. Not sure on the rest though...

some pics of the setting..
last one...
you can install by just removing VerifyHardware in LaunchConditions
I noticed this also. It also has an odd resolution of 1024x600. Im not sure what the default screen res is on a UMPC and if they are stretched or not.
Taking a peek at the read me it says the lowest supported res is 800x480 so i assume it auto scales but maxes out at 1024 if you have a higher res screen.
Its a fairly interesting app for the most part. Im not quite sure how it would fit in if i were to use along side a real frontend.
The video player and picture viewer are pretty cool. The audio player wont allow you to view your music by folders which is an annoying thing ms seems to be dead set against doing as mce still wont do it either, but wmp11 does.
A lot of thing are surprisingly pretty good though. The way the screens slide in and out is pretty nice. You can skin the whole app, in addition to just changing the background pic, all the button graphics etc are png files.
It will embed into another frontend (RR) also, but doesnt seem to resize. But it could make a pretty cool video player and picture viewer and even a app launcher for things you may not want to go through the trouble of setting up in your frontend.
Overall its kind of interesting. If all u need is music/video/pics/app launcher in your frontend this would fit the bill.
I think the whole app though is an attempt to entice umpc owners to upgrade to vista so they can run it. Funny enough, it doesnt use DX10 but DX9 so technically it could run on xp where it would be a lot more usefull to umpc users, esp since the previous release of this app was just a glorified app launcher.
It kind of reminds me of Media Engine (oh the old days)

i have joost invites, just hit me up for one.
well, if it's a smaller version of Media Center as it seems then I'm sure they'll have an SDK for it as in MCE. On the website they mention that the XNA Framework Program Manager at MSFT is considering supporting UMPC development for their next release.
Has anyone else had a problem getting this running? I downloaded the msi, removed the hardware launch condition (using Orca) and the install ran fine. When I try to run Origami Experience I get:
"Origami Experience can't start. Try to restart Origami Experience; or restart your computer, and then restart Origami Experience."
I've tried those steps, of course, but it just keeps coming back that way. I'm running Vista Ultimate...
can the computer your running it on, run Aero? It uses some hardware accel so if your vid card isnt up to par origami wont run. I get the same error if i run vista in vmware, but it will run fine on the same machine with a real install of vista. Not sure why they are taking this route, its allmost like they are forgetting the target hardware for the app, umpc's which are not beefy machines. I saw a video not to long ago of someone running it on there umpc, and it ran terribly slow, something like a 4sec lag on every click.

i have joost invites, just hit me up for one.
I have it all running on 2 different sets of hardware.
The only issue I had was Vista drivers on the Mini-itx hardware but i think i have everything i need to sort it out later.
I'll try and post a thread later to show what i've done and if you set the resolution to 800 x 600 or 800 x 480 you won't have a problem.
