I havent used hibernate with XP, but I would assume that you go to control panel -> Power Options -> Advanced Tab and uncheck the box that says "Prompt for password on resume" or something like that.
How do you get it to autologin after resuming from hibernation? mine comes back to the click username to login screen. This is the first time I've ran XP so I am assuming its somewhere I'm just not seeing in the new options.

I believe you can add some registry entries to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
I'm not sure of the entries, but I'd check in http://www.microsoft.com/technet
First post was right! Just uncheck the prompt for password thingy in the power options. Then, when you return from hibernation you will return to the desktop rather than welcome screen
My laptop did this until i unchecked it - it works fine now
If you want it to autologin when you ordinarily start up then use tweakui.

I know of the reg key, have a stupid server at work that has to be logged in for the screwy software to work and has to be rebooted once or twice per day, but the source code is missing so we can fix the code. Anyway that got it to login automatically at boot. I turned off the promt for password when coming out of hibernation so now it would just make me click on the user, so I started going through the control panel and setting everything back to the windows classic. turned off the user switching and auto updates and the welcome screen. The welcome screen did it. BTW the autologon can also be set in the local security policy and saves as a template and applied to other systems, or set at a domain level in the active directory group policy. Group policies are great I can control so much from the server. The developers hate it when I force their IE home page to something like porn.com. I'm a BOFH for a living in case you couldn't tell.
hehe... you know your stuff... you get an a
i probably wouldn't have had the energy to type that though
