    Winamp visualization AVS runs SLOW.

At full screen it runs really slow. i think it has to do with the resolution because the higher the resolution the slower it gets and the lower the resolution the faster it gets. i currently have it on 800x600 because my RR is in 800x600. If i use 640x480 its a little faster but when i hibernate or goto the desktop and return to RR it will change RR to 640x480 and it messes up the layout of RR by moving it off screen to the right RR actually looks like it doesnt fit on the screen (too big). 800x600 has no problems because it isnt switching back and forth from different resolutions but it plays the AVS plugin really slow... its like a different vis and you lose how the vis flows with the beat of the song.

i read a post where someone said guino recommended to turn off scrolling. how do i do that? i tried to delete the scolling= line in the rr.ini but it didnt do anything, i still had scrolling. i didnt see any other scrolling text within that file. Is it because fo the ****ty video card? im actually on a radeon 7500 pci card so it shouldnt be too bad. mpegs and dvds play fine on the system.

Also, is milkdrop a better plugin?

to reduce the cpu hit of winamp visuals (they dont use the vid card)

open winamp stand alone> start the AVS visuals>rightclick the visuals>Avs editor>Settings>Display.

check pixel doubling, it will reduce the visuals to half resolution
check Reuse image on window resize
drag the slider for Windowed performance to the right till you get a good frame rate

    Go to Settings>Fullscreen

    check Wait for retrace
    uncheck Page flipping
move the slider for Rendering performance to the right till the frame rate is good.
Change the Fullscreen video mode to the same resolution as your carpc screen is set to.

    Settings>Transitions
    uncheck Keep rendering old effect

This should allow you to get better peformance with winamp AVS no matter what hardware you have. The winamp visuals mostly use the cpu for everything, so no matter what you are going to take a cpu hit when they are on. If your cpu is allready getting hit hard before you turn it on, you should look to find out what app is raping the cpu and slap it around a bit.

    later.
