to reduce the cpu hit of winamp visuals (they dont use the vid card)
open winamp stand alone> start the AVS visuals>rightclick the visuals>Avs editor>Settings>Display.
check pixel doubling, it will reduce the visuals to half resolution
check Reuse image on window resize
drag the slider for Windowed performance to the right till you get a good frame rate
Go to Settings>Fullscreen
check Wait for retrace
uncheck Page flipping
move the slider for Rendering performance to the right till the frame rate is good.
Change the Fullscreen video mode to the same resolution as your carpc screen is set to.
Settings>Transitions
uncheck Keep rendering old effect
This should allow you to get better peformance with winamp AVS no matter what hardware you have. The winamp visuals mostly use the cpu for everything, so no matter what you are going to take a cpu hit when they are on. If your cpu is allready getting hit hard before you turn it on, you should look to find out what app is raping the cpu and slap it around a bit.
later.
