So why was this posted in this forum?
Hi everybody
I'm using a viliv s5 for in car nav and mp3 playback, but am struggling to find a decent interface, big buttons and menu's I really like the centrafuse interface but find it a bit resource hungry for my little atom and 1GB of ram, I have been using it on the trial version but really just want it for the music playback all the other features are great but I have no use for them. so considering that it struggles a bit and I only want to play mp3 the price seams a bit too much.
I have tried wmp, wmc, itunes, winamp vlc, kmp, and all the others I could find with various skins; and find them all a bit lacking.
ok the question bit: Is there anything out there that is comparable to the way cf handles music playback but is not tied to all the other great features that I don't need.
If he changed the question to "what fe should i use" then yes, it is a FAQ.This isn't a FAQ.
Yes, CF would be really heavy to run as just a media player... especially on an S5. There are other touchscreen friendly frontends that are much faster than CF. Try openMobile or RevFE. All of them are skin-able so you can skim it down to just the music player by editing a few xml files.

i use winamp as my " FE "
main reason i use it : its FAST and i MAINLY use the pc for music.
i have 160gb, that i want instantaneous access to.
i tend to switch between two touchscreen friendly skins for winamp.
Komodo and nitrous audio cti2.

komodo is free , cti2 cost about $6 i think . well worth the price in my opinion.
there is also a demo.
komodo, is flashier , and has nice transitions , beautiful backgrounds.
only caveat....the buttons are a tad bit smalller than i want.
but they do work.
cti2 is well designed for touchscreen use while ur driving lol
the buttons are BIG and nice.
not as flashy and sexy as komodo thou.
give it a try, let me know what ya think..
i have cf2 and 3, i no longer use them
not as negatively affected by its want for all my systems resources, but it simply cannot satisfy my desire for instant access to my large media library.
too much loading...
I have tried both and found the big buttons are great but the menu's are just as tedious as if using winamp directly, unless I've missed something?
I like the itunes flip album cover style but the buttons are too small, there must be an audio player out there that combines both?
Yep! sorry I tend to ramble on and I guess the faq really is which audio player to use.
No , you have not.
Thats another caveat to it, u cant easily navigate through folders etc.
I listen to my music in a never ending shuffle, so it works perfectly for me.
openmobile looks like what I'm after, just not quite working yet, but I should play with it a bit more and see how it goes
yep thats the one, just what I'm looking for the new version looks even better
