    Windows Task bar shows up after navigation routing - 1.0.8.1 and 1.0.9.8

    What version of StreetDeck is this bug report for?

    1.0.8.1 and 1.0.9.8

    Please give a basic description of the issue here.

    Windows Task bar shows up after navigation routing

    Is the system that is listed in your CarPC specs under your user name the same system where you encountered this bug?

    Yes

    If no, please describe your system here.

    Are you able to reproduce this bug at will?

    Yes

    Please list the steps required to recreate the issue you are reporting.

    <theory>
    Go to the Size and Positioning screen in the Display settings and adjust so the size is not precisely full screen.
    </theory>

    Go to navigation and create a route.

    or

    Go to Display Settings and adjust Size and Position (don't actually need to change anything, just go the the Size and Position screen)

    Results: Windows task bar now displayed on top of Streetdeck and there is no way to make it go away except restarting Streetdeck.

    Expected: no Windows UI displayed. SD is always topmost.
    Please provide any relevent information regarding the issue you have encountered.

    I am only speculating that the Size and Positioning changes made in 1.0.8.1 have anything to do with this problem. (BTW, these changes were not welcome as now the full SD window is resized such that the Windows background shows in the areas not covered by SD. Prior to 1.0.8.1 the SD window background was always full screen and only the controls were resized allowing them to fit within the visible area on my screen. The previous behavior was ideal and easy to use. The new behavior requires very careful adjustment to ensure the SD background is positioned precisely to the visible screen area.)

    I use the resizing and positioning because the full display area of my LCD screen is not fully visible in my screen enclosure. The size and positioning feature and the scaling that SD did was awesome to accommodate for this.

    This is pretty much a blocking bug for me as I cannot use navigation without having the task bar pop up, which then blocks the lower controls displayed in SD (not to mention looks like cr@p).

    Can you hide the taskbar?

    Are you asking me if this is possible? Or are you suggesting this as a work around?

    Yes, it is possible for me to hide the task bar. It is an unacceptable work around because I would have no ability to recall it when not in Streetdeck due to the lower portion of my screen being physically unaccessible due how the screen is placed in my dash. The lower 50-80 pixels of the screen are physically obscured behind the dash enclosure.

    So as a workaround, this is pretty much a non-starter.

    I was suggesting a work around. Streetdeck is designed to not cover the task bar when not in fullscreen mode. Another workaround would be to use the monitors positioning menu to scale the image to fit on the opening you have. Let me know if this works.

    If you re-read my comments, you'll note that I am already using the monitor positioning feature to scale the screen to the visible area. I've been doing this since the very earliest versions.

    I'm running SD in full screen. SD is top-most as one would expect up until I either create a navigation route or use the monitor positioning feature. After doing one of these the task bar pops up over SD.

    I'm speculating that this bug is actually related somehow to the monitor positioning feature since 1) the way this feature worked definitely changed in 1.0.8.1 and 2) it reproes when I use that feature.

    DalenA - is your task bar set to always be on top or do you have it set to 'auto-hide' the task bar?

    Also, are you running Vista or XP?

    For all prior SD versions, I've had the Windows task bar set on top and not auto-hide. SD has worked perfectly for this up until these last two released versions.

    Following Webdog's advice, I did change it so it is not always on top and SD now works as expected, but it makes navigating between apps in Windows a huge pain because it requires me to use a keyboard in case a program covers the task bar. I know this is probably more painful for me than others because my screen doesn't have the top 1/4in and the bottom 1/2in visible which is where Windows places it's navigational controls (taskbar, close, minimize, etc). But this is also why SD was perfect because the scaling and positioning feature compensated for this, and I could still have my task bar sized taller and still always be visible.

    This is on XP.
