Update....still doesn't work
same error here on vista. plz advise...
Jan, just in case Chuck is not aware, I just want to make sure that he knows that DVD's do not play in SD in Vista. In another post I saw recently, he said that if the correct codecs are installed, it should play fine. What I explained earlier, and also as a reply to that post, is that DVD's play fine in WMP in Vista. The correct codecs are installed in all our situations, but DVD's still won't play in Streetdeck in Vista. I just want to make sure he is 100% aware of that, b/c the last time he commented on it, he seemed to believe that there is no problem.
I'll email him a link to your post!
Thanks!

Good deal, thanks.
Please retest with the latest release and report back with your findings: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/1151243-post25.html

tested with new version 1.1.0.9, and DVD playback in Vista still does not work. Playback works fine in WMP, Media Center, and PowerDVD. I get the following error in the log:
WARNING: CDVDManager::InitDVD_Help - m_pIDvdGB->RenderDvdVideoVolume Failed - hr=0x00000001
WARNING: .\DVDManager.cpp:646 HRCALL Failed!
0x80004005 = hr = InitDVD_Help(lpszDVDPath)
INFO: Message Box:

There was an error while trying to initialize the DVD Video disc. Please see the log for details.
Thanks
This is kind of ridiculous. It's obvious that this issue hasn't been given any attention at all. It doesn't appear in any of Chuck's changelogs.![]()
As has been discussed before in detail...the reason I ask that you retest is becuse sometimes other areas of the code are affected without it being intentional.
This has happened numerous times as indicated by the numerous bug reports for instance.
We need to know if anything has changed, for better or for worse with the new update.
Also, I'm sure you've noticed that many times there are releases that we never see that only Chuck sees. Sometimes, the fixes in those versions don't find their way on the change log that he posts for one reason or another.
From my time spent as a QA specialist for a CRM development company, I've learned that testing all existing bugs when there is a release is vitally important to helping the developers save their time and efforts and focus them elsewhere.
