That does sound right. I stopped using things in my startup folder becuase I found the whole system to load faster if i opened SD up manually. I wonder if WMP would slow down the start up?
I would guess it's because SD uses the WMP (windows media player) and if the player isn't started (initializing), search wouldn't work. Just a guess, but it makes sense. Try this. Open WMP, then start SD, search without initializing music and see if you get a result.
You also might be able to put WMP in your startup folder if the above test works.
