Well, I have to look at all opinions as valid, so I looked through everything.....

The below picture is the ONLY part of an actual carwings screen that was used. Even blown up about 50x it's still pretty much in focus. On a 7" screen, it's really crisp. I'm guessing you aren't familiar with Streetdeck or it's skins.

Everything else is made from scratch and/or modified SD overlays. Exactly what is out of focus?

"Out of focus" was my first thought when looking at the brushed-metal looking button panels. They aren't hard to make, there are some really good tutorials online for making them in PS. A little blur is good, but I'd start off with a little more "crisp" brushed metal texture. Also the blur running across the different textures flattens it out some where the eye is expecting to see something more 3D. Just an amateur's opinion, offered up with constructive intent.

like I said, on a 7" screen, they are quite crisp. However, if someone that is actually USING the skin has the same complaint, I would be happy to deal with it then.

Not really a matter of being able to create it (but thanks for the "tutorial" comment). It's a matter of priority and just what is needed for a 7-8" touchscreen.

However, I have asked those that are using it for their input. I have no problem improving it now that the basic concept is finished.

Well for sure the carwings 'curve' is blurry, but also the indicators look flat, the text (which I assume is the streetdeck text) looks just wrong.

In fact the streetdeck overlays/format or whatever just doesn't look right.

Either copy the carwings look, text etc completely or don't use it at all, it just don't look right.

Ask blk02si if you can use the PSDs he created for the RR skin and adapt the images to suit SD, but don't try and mix the two.

lol....thats ok. people don't like it, then don't use it. That simple. personally, I hate the true carwing look, but I do like some of the concepts. That's why if you go to the link it's called Carwings INSPIRED skin. Not Carwings "clone".

    But thanks for the comments.

edit: also, I like it when I hit back one too many times, it DOESN'T kill the program.

Sorry I laughed, but the truth is, cosmetics are the absolute easiest part of any skin, and I think that is why I couldn't stay with RR. It's all looks over function. That's why I thought it was funny you suggest I go to the carwings guy when I tried that skin. And if you hit go back one too many times, you leave RR. What kind of functionality is that? I'm sorry, but if I'm going to create a skin, I want it to work right. Looks are easy. I still think it's a waste of time to improve the roller, but hey, why not if I have the time. Right?

RoadRunner can be a simple as you want it. It's just that a lot of people want to cram as much in as possible. Not saying it's right, but not saying it's wrong.

The suggestion was that you ask to use the PSD's and layout so that at least the graphics look good, not incorporate the functions.

That I admit is a bit of a pain.

What roller are you on about, a paint roller, steam roller, hey they can all be improved, but some people will never be able to improve some things, no matter how much time they have.

Dissing RR would be complaining with no knowledge. I stated EXACT reasons why I don't like RR and definitely don't like the Carwings skin. Think I used it for 20 minutes before going back to DFX3.

I use RR when it's stormy out. I love it's weather. But bottom line is I don't like it overall.

And truth is, after I calmed down, I did like your suggestions. It does look better. However, I do still hate carwings font, so it won't be changed. The "curvy" thing you speak of. Looks like a roller. But you already knew that. We call it a slideout, because in StreetDeck, it slides in and out of the frame independant of the background, so for clarification, it will be called the slideout in the future.

But RoadRunner has nothing to do with this at all, this is all about your graphics based on the carwings style, so why bring in your likes and dislikes about RR.

I have not commented on the SD engine in this thread just your skin graphics.

Actually I had no idea what you were refering to the curved button array as the roller, my first thought was you were saying a Rolls Royce (slang: Roller) design could be improved upon.
