Give them a break. I'm not sure you realize it, but these guys are working their freaking asses off for us. There is a reason we are using SD: It is the most polished thing out there as of now. Give them a while, they'll come up with a solution. First, there are other things that are bothering more than a handful of people that they have to take care of first.
wooahhh... easy take it easy dude... i was merely making a suggestion for the future.... not that it should be done right now at this time......

Nope. Bought the el cheapo version, so no nice voices were included...but while Microsoft Anna's voice might not make her the most tempting mistress if I were looking for a live-in roommate, her voice is warm chocolate compared with that horrid, grating, word-butcher "Microsoft Sam".

You should check out some of AT&T's Natural Voices. They are SOOOOOO much better.

god_of_cpu since iguidance is the most popular nav software on this forum specially with the open source programs..... is there anyway in the next release it can be an option to integrate iguidance?
YEah, I'm certain that they are going to code a whole new element just for you.
The fact is that the SD team is investigating a new nav enginve for a v2.0 release or something similar. If you'd go and actually read the discussions that are ongoing, you'd realize this. Any new version won't be out for a year, at least (Chuck's words).

ok, so I have done some extensive digging and come up with 2 solutions to the problem most of us are having.

    1. Create a digital mod so that iguidance can be integrated. (I have a copy of iguidance and I love it)

    2. "Buy" mappoint 2006 as it might work better than the version that comes with SD. - out of curiosity shouldn't I have gotten the latest version of mappoint if I just bought SD

I will be looking into creating the digital mod, but since my programing skills are limited i am going to have to do a lot of reading first.

I am getting a copy of mappoint 2006 from a "Friend" to try it out. lets see how that works I will post results for those of you who share my concerns. I'm hopping mappoint 2006 eliminates some of the major issues from the version that we have as I am not looking forward to the C# crash course im gonna have to take to write the mod to embed iguidance.

1 - Except for one little problem... DigitalMods aren't able to be accessed while driving as a part of the safety features of SD.

2 - That would be "StreetDeck Lite", which is what I'm running. You'll still have the same issues.

yes but if im using the digital mod for iguidance then i have no use for SD to get a GPS feed and will disable it in the settings as a result it will not know im moving thus no restrictions. the gps port will be used by iguidance what do you think?

So if you switch to iGuidance and have no use for SD navigation, what use would you have for SD at all?

    What do I think?
    (You asked for it)
I think you're whining about hings that are beyond anyone's control. I also think that if the nav routing of SD is so absolutely horrible for you (which, strangely isn't as bad for most other users ), then you should switch to a different nav solution.
If that's the case, then you should dump SD all together, since the core value of commercial front-end software is the nav engine & map data.

I don't think you're going to be able to code a DigitalMod for iGuidance. It's hard to integrate into other front-ends that have the ability to embed software. The embedding of apps into SD is brand-spanking-new, and as such, I'd expect there to be issues at the very least.

ok fine that might be your opinion, I don't get how every one deals with a routing engine that tells you to go left instead of right,..... on long trips will freeze without any error and you might just miss that turn thinking its still up ahead.

you know what this is a forum and I am allowed to whine... if you have a problem with it then stop communicating on threads that I started.

Also I never said I hate SD I love it and thats y i bought it, but i hate the fact that they chose to integrate it with mappoint and there is no solution to an apparent problem. i hate how they just say ok we are going to scrap it and make a new one and charge for it, so I thought i might give embedding iguidance a shot. not all of us bought the lite version and have the $$$ and patients to wait for a solution that works.

man who made u a moderator?

See, I don't have those issues, either. My nav doesn't lock up. My nav doesn't tell me to turn in the wrong direction.
Now, it does tell me to make a u-turn and go the other direction, but I also ignore it if it's a situation where I know where I'm going.

I think your whining is pointless and a waste of your time and energy. Your complaints are mere regurgitations of other complaints that have ben voiced.
I didn't say it wasn't welcome. It brings to light the issues that other members are having.

I look at it this way.
You're telling someone that some aspect of their hard work sucks. This would be really close to me walking into your workplace and telling you that you suck at your job.
Sure. EVERYONE could do their job better. There is always room for improvement in every product, every application, every job performance, etc. However, telling a developer that you're going to eschew their hard work and try to redo it to utilize a competing product is... well... rude, IMHO.

They never said they are going to scrap MapPoint's routing engine. I suggest you go back and read the pertinent threads about the subject.
It was said that the SD dev team was looking into a different navigation engine. Yes, it was said that IF a new nav engine was chosen, it would be integrated into a v2.0 release. IF that happens, then there would be a charge to upgrade to the v2.0 release.
There's a lot of ifs in there that you're choosing to ignore.

man who made u a moderator?
Someone who thought I could help deal with the influx of spam on the forums.
Just because I am a moderator does not mean that I don't have opinions about products, users, support, and everything else.
If I had to bite my tongue in order to maintain moderator status, I'd drop it in a second.

well im not going to put you down or argue with u and if I came across that way I apologize.

I don't think its rude for me trying to replace an off the shelf product that was used by SD with another. I have complemented them on the interface and that is what I paid for I should have gone with the lite version, but because no one voiced their opinions on the forum in regards to the navigation issues i never had the chance.

See, I don't have those issues, either. My nav doesn't lock up. My nav doesn't tell me to turn in the wrong direction.

see you might have not had these issues and maybe its because you have the lite version and installed mappoint 2006. and that is exactly what I am trying to figure out. I'm not crazy to whine and bltch about a software that has a few flaws, but my experience with he navigation has been horrible and when i am out with my friends they always say "you need to dump this crappy system" and how do you think that makes me feel. I luckily have a backup and just close SD and use Roadrunner when it comes to navigating, but i like the SD interface and would like to come up with a solution to my problems, and im sure its going to help others too.
