Music Search Function Still Not Working Logically

I started to post this in the bugs forum but then decided it needed to go here, because it's only a bug if it's not supposed to be happening as far as the programmers are concerned.

For a $200 program something MUST be done to improve the music search.

    What I'm referring to is:

    1. Go to the Search module in Music
    2. Type or gesture an Artist.
    3. Search module brings up the Artist.
    4. Click on the Artist.
    5. Instead of seeing a choice of albums for that artist, it lists every song for that artist.

I read in other posts that this would be fixed in 1.0.5.5, then in 1.0.8.1. Now we are at 1.0.9.9 and it still doesn't work.

To me, this handling of the music library in Streetdeck is still very illogical compared to other frontends.

PLEASE fix this for the next update!

2nd - It would also be really nice if search results were able to yield Album names, instead of just Artists and Songs. This way, one would be able to simply search for an album, and click it to play the album. I would be MORE than happy with just having the above work correctly though.

Finally - when I Search for a song called "Life", for example, I get three results that show "Life - Song." There are three artists in my collection that have a song called "Life." How do I know which "Life" is which on the search results screen? Can the artist or album name be added to the button so we know which one to select??

I'm sort of seeing the same issue, but only when the artist has an album or two. If I have an artist with multiple albums, it displays the album and I have to drill down into it. Otherwise selecting the artist displays the 3 or 4 songs I have in my collection. So for me it's working ok.

    Agreed!

big second on needing to show albums then songs vs. all of the artists songs if doing a search for artist.

Maybe nonsense to write this here, but I would suggest to make this an option, because I don't care for albums and would prefer to see all Songs from all albums, after I have choosen an Artist.

Although mostly I don't care about Albums, I missed this function a few times.

I also had this problem, the solution is not complete.

Options are always good. That said...

I think what others want this for is the following use case: I want to queue up several albums from different artists. I don't want to queue up all 8 albums I have of one artist, just the newest one I got yesterday...then I'd like to listen to the other new album I bought from another artist.

Right now, I have to queue up every damn song from the artist if I use search...If I browse by artist - it does exactly what I want it to do.

At the very least, the interfaces (search vs. browse by artist) should be consistent. Right now, they're not.

Completely right! Although I'm nearly full happy since the new update

    One additional point:

If I'm in the "now playing module" and press the "add all by artist" or "add all by album button" this two buttons are now dependent from "add to queue" is checked or not. This case is really great as I think it wasn't so in the last version !!
But since it is dependent from this option it would be great to have this "add to queck" checkbox also in the now playing module !!

Because if I want to use this buttons I have to go first in the "Search Music" modul, choose something and set this option there to have it right set when I go back to the "now playing" module.

    Also not so consistent.

    Best Regards, Roland

Sounds like a good option to me.

While this thread is starting to get some attention, I'd like to add one more thing. (I know this thread is starting to become something that may be more suited to the Suggestions and Requests subforum, but like I said in my original post, much of these functions were said to be fixed in prior versions, and so far are not).

    - It would make SO much sense if, when going into either the Artists screen, or the Albums screen, if gestures of letters would automatically become an alphabetical index search of your library in that screen. In other words, if I'm on the Artists screen, and I gesture the letter "S," instead of it going to the Satellite Radio module, it would jump to the first artist that starts with S. Perhaps there could even be the option with a simple checkbox somewhere called "Gesturing in Albums/Artists Searches Alphabetically." If the box is checked, it will work as I just described it. If it's un-checked, it will work as it currently does.

I've seen this request before in older threads... it would really would be a great option.

I was requesting this a few times

But now I only use the search function (while driving ) In my opinion much saver than going through the Artist list. I also mentioned this a few times, but not even an answer. So I have to use the testmode or currently have unpluged my GPS and use this other unsafe features too sometimes...

But anyway all the last changes met my wishes and I really love SD now, although I'm really demanding, and everything else is just a bonus now for me

Except the thing with the additional saturation control over the SD colors - God of CPU - I don't want to create a skin only for this
