Search the forums; there are countless threads on this very issue with information, disinformation, opinions, help, and maybe even a few answers. You aren't likely to get anyone up to the task of posting anything substantive again (or is that again, and again, and again?)

Its a bit slack, what ever happen to freedom of choice?
The product enforces a US law, yet the product is available to the world market? I was considering purchasing this product, but this post made my mind for me.

Personally, I'd rather the driver in the other lane not have the "freedom of choice" to watch a movie while driving and remove my "freedom of choice" to live while coming down the other lane and he's swerving after being distracted by the movie...........

If the passenger wants to watch a movie, put in a visor screen or one that can't be seen by the driver.

And it's not just a US law, it's illegal in Canada also. I woud be very surprised if it's not illegal elsewhere. If it's not, it should be. amd don't start belly-aching abou t gps nav screens, different area of legality.

Every product is available to the "world market". Defeating the interlock is quite simple, but I won't be a part of it.................

    Not THIS argument again.
SD is not marketed to "the world". It is marketed to the US and Europe only.
    Why?
The navigation data covers either North America or Europe.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

my neighbor works at the courthouse and she had to do some paperwork on some dude who got pulled over watching a movie in his car 2 days ago...but he also got a DUI at the same time, so im not so sure if he would have been pulled over or not if he wasnt weaving all over the place...

I don't care if its illegal... I break the law all the time and I really don't care... some laws are meant to be broken... I am glad there is a way to do it still using the switch. I don't watch the movie I listen to the audio and the surround sound while i drive. I built a car computer for freedom in doing anything I want with it....
