    GPS Satellites

If I launch Streets & Trips, it usually says I have between 5-7 satellites, sometimes as many as 9. In StreetDeck, the indicator in the Nav module only will show a max of four satellites, which is fine. It may be connected to more, but won't bother showing it since it doesn't matter much...

Just earlier today I installed the GPS Status Digitalmod and it appears to be connected to 8+ satellites all the time, with signal strength in the 50s and 60s. I get a list of 10, and most of the time 8 are connected and have signal strength "in the green". But when I switch over to the Nav module, it's saying only 2 or 3 satellites.

Is there are certain signal strength minimum that's required for StreetDeck to be using the data? Even though it can see the satellite, the signal is only around 55 or 60 and that's not good enough? What's the connection between the number of satellites that appear to be found in the Nav module versus what I'm seeing in the GPS Status DigitalMod?

I'm using the Pharos iGPS 360 that came with MS S&T 2005. I have it inside my spoiler, so it's just under a layer of urethane (no glass or metal) and it's kept powered even when the car is off. Neither the hardware nor the signal itself is the issue, I'm just looking for clarification as to how to interpret what I'm seeing in the Nav module and the GPS Status Digitalmod. Thanks!

The issue you have reported where the number of satellites and their information is not consistant with the digital mod has been addressed in an internal release. While I understand that you do not have access to this release (yet at least), I wanted to post and let you know that your thread has not been ignored.

I do not have an ETA on the release for public use yet, sorry.

No apologies necessary...thanks for the reply.

This seemed to be worse on 1.1.0.0 and I was going to go back to 1.0.8.1 (the previous version I had in the car) because it seemed to be better on that version. It was then that I found out that the sdupdate.exe thing won't go back between major versions and I didn't feel like uninstalling and reinstalling and all that...

Anyway, from your response, I'm gathering that for whatever reason, the Nav module is somehow not utilizing all of the available satellite info in the version that is in public release? I'm just curious if that's actually the problem I'm seeing. It never seemed to be an issue before...did I just not notice, or is this something that has "broken" recently? It's workable right now, just not as good as it could be, so I can wait for whenever it is that the internal release makes it out the door. Thanks for your efforts...

Well, after speaking with Chuck some more on this, apparently this was not the intent of the update. The comment in the release notes was towards something else entirely.

Sorry to get your hopes up.
