And from my specs, a Pentium M does fine with onboard graphics as well.

    My 2 cents.

well if you want the core2duo, then go with eBay for cheapo. Or just google...

But the thing is, computers now are way too powerful for the software that we run. Vista runs perfectly smoothly on a Pentium 4M. And there is no reason to now run Vista in the car. Since Microsoft is now taking 5 years between OS's, you will have a 5-year or more future proof car.

The only things I can see changing that would be benefitial for the car environment is compression. Meaning a 800Mb xvid will become a 200-300Mb future coded video. Decompression uses some really tedious calculations, so the higher the compression for the same quality, the more decompression routines, the more CPU needed. But even then, you wont harness the full power of the P4M for a quite a long time.

If you have the money to burn why not, but it is overkill and you wont ever use it. It will be a big waste. It will have the uber geek and money factor, but now it is cheaper to use the P4M and you wont notice a difference. Once mobile Quads come out in mainstream, then the Duos will drop to the P4M prices, and then you might as well get the c2d, but until then it is a waste of money.

I guess I am just frugal...
