Any of you guys/gals with coding experience... from chatting with other forum users, the main thing that seems to attract them to "the other two" front-ends, more so than Streetdeck, is the amount and variety of plug-ins. I really feel that Streetdeck could be hands-down the best one out there, but it needs more plugin choices to really compete. Granted, with RR being free, it's going to have more people and therefore more plugins, but I mean, it is obscene the amount of plugins that exist for that F/E!
Anyway, I can write a song like a sum'*****, but I can't write a line of code to save my life. Coders, we need you! Jan made a great effort with the DigitalMod of the Month attempt, but there were no bites at all on that. Bummer.
With SD coming ready to go with the Development Environment, I would think it couldn't be any easier for you guys (but again, I don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to this stuff).
So coders, come on guys! Give us your best shot!!

Thanks Nola!

Please post on the forums! Chances are, someone else has or will have the same questions as you!
I have written some digitalmods myself, and I would have to say that I think that at the beginning, SDK support was a bit better. OK, there's a wiki with some examples and they are GREAT!, but there are still many questions unanswered.
The API description has not been updated since 1.0.5.4 or something like that, so if you want to learn what the different API things are, it's kinda difficult.
If we could get just a bit more support (I know Chuck has a lot of things to do) I think it would boost the plugin development.

What can we add that would be of any great benefit (realistically for driving)? I am curious to hear because I have only felt that music and Nav are for the most part the only two things I actually use in the car (boring, but true)?
I know we need more good skins, but I need to find my inspiration (and the time again)...
Also, is it just me, or are most of the RR mods just features that have already been incorporated into SD? I don't know how much of it works in SD, but I saw mods for things like gas mileage (we already have a mod), copying video and audio files to a directory (std feature in SD), and phone control (std to SD, but does it work?).
156 mods to implement functionality that is already native I don't think is that much of a "selling" point, but if there is something more specific that would actually be useful, it would be interesting to hear it.
Most are not implemented.
RR can auto toggle day and night mode based on time, soo simple, why is this not in SD yet?
Jukebox is in RR/DFX and you can search for a song on the net and download it, providing you have wifi or the like, where is this in SD?
Net radio of your choosing is in RR, not in SD
Weather with presets of 4 locations plus GPS location with 1 to 5 day charts and radar maps are in RR, not in SD, not all that anyways.
Browse music by album cover is in RR not in sd, I can do this all day...
Most are not implemented.
Hmm... yes... simple - I should look at that. Assuming that SD gives us access to the night/day toggle function, that would be a quick mod.
What is jukebox? Are we talking about Y!Music jukebox?
Ok, that's kinda broad - what is the popular one people actually use? Not "all" radio stations come with an SDK or JS accessible ports - so this *probably* can't be done for every radio station known to man, but if it has been done in RR and we can be specific, it can be done here.
You would think that would be a quick modification of the existing mod (once again would take a little research before being definitive first)
I saw the album cover one and that was kinda cool - I don't think that flipping action would work for SD with the tools we are given, but just "browsing" by album art should be doable.
You know, I used to watch the digital mod requests to see if anything interesting popped up, but they were always so unrealistic (like I want to know the planetary alignment based on my current position) that I just stopped watching... most of these things though seem pretty realistic and 'normal'
I know it has been discussed before... but a traffic mod would prob be the best mod to add.
