Thread: Vista Navigation dosen't work in 1.1.1.0

    Exclamation Vista Navigation dosen't work in 1.1.1.0

    I recently purchased streetdeck, and I’m unable to get Navigation to function at all. I am using an Asus R2Hv, which runs Windows Vista. Streetdeck was the first application installed on a clean install of Vista. The log pasted and attached illustrates me opening streetdeck, selecting navigation, it failing, then closing streetdeck. I have searched every thread here based on the errors in the logs and am unable to troubleshoot/fix this problem myself. Here is the log:

    You're having the same problem I'm having. Most folks have been able to remedy it with an uninstall/reinstall of Mappoint. I unfortunately have not been able to get Nav to work on Vista no matter what I try. I can't get my system to recognize the SD Mappoint plugin under Vista.

    Try the following:
    1. Make sure UAC is disabled.
    2. Enable the Administrator account of your pc.
    3. Login as Administrator
    4. Open Mappoint
    5. Go to Tools - Addins
    6. Make sure the checkbox for Streetdeck Mappoint is checked.
    7. Hit Ok, and if you don't get an error message, you should be good to go.

    Log out and log back in as your other account and you should be set.

    Unfortunately this did not work for me. But it worked for others.

    OMG... That actually worked!!! thanks a bunch!!!

    FYI, in order to enable the Administrator account on Vista Home Premium, you need to enter "net user administrator /active" at the cmd prompt to enable the account.

    I can't even believe it. It works for everyone but me! How ironic. Well I'm glad I could help you. I just wish I knew why it doesn't work for me. For me, I can't get the checkbox to stay checked, no matter what I do. Chuck says it means that the pc won't register the addin for some reason. But I'm doing exactly the steps above, and it won't work.

    Did you try to remove/readd the .dll in the COM addins window while logged in as administrator? It should be pointing to c:\program files\streetdeck\mappointaddin.dll

    it absolutely amazes me that one would even have to go through these steps to get the NAV functioning in Vista. Any advice/reply Chuck?

    Yeah, I've talked to Chuck extensively about it. There's not much else he can do without actually getting his hands on my pc. It works fine for him too.

    unbelievable... first you delete my bug report, stating that this issue is not a bug. I contact support, and they asked me to create this thread, rather than offering any assistance or even a link to the other bug report. I fixed the issue, without the assistance of an "engineer" from mp3car.com. Now you tell me I should have seen the fix on someone else's bug report? I thought it wasn't a bug?!! I know you are a volunteer here, but if this is the kind of assistance one can expect of you; it's hugely disappointing. My $.02
