    Questions on Custimization functionalities?

Alright a couple of issues. I am running SD on a Blaxtream TC-1000 (1 ghz 512 Mb ram) so its not great but it runs effective enough for me. My issues come with the following:

    1. My USB GPS takes about a minute to lockin after SD is fully loaded, how ever I would like to know if there is a way to tell it not to initialize nav while it is booting as it seems like it does this twice, once while booting and then once after clicking on the nav button (seems to me like double duty) is there a way to elimnate the first nav load as I don't have aGPS signal by then and it sometimes hangs on it for 5 minutes, and only have it initialze when I click on NAV.

    2. Is there a way to preload graphics? What I mean is SD comes up and there is a lag before all buttons are rendered. The main screen comes up fasteset but all sub menus and quickmenu for now playing at bottom takea lifetime to load. Once they are loaded SD runs like a peach nice and fast, I would just like to send a command that tells it preload aor prerender all of this before SD opens, as I would assume it should take less time beacuse SD is not running anything at that time other than other boot up scripts.

any help would be heaps, these are my biggest feasible gripes right now.

    1. You could "hibernate" rather than shutdown that would eliminate the load time when you press the "Nav" button although your GPS reciever would still take a minute to lock on.

    2. Hibernate would also help you here but you will still have a bit of load time for SD

Lastly I'd recommend running StreetDeck using EWF and HORM see this post if interested.

I will look into that thanks, I have had trouble getting XM to work (mp3car store version USB) on resume from Hibernate.

I was able to get SD to load how I want it to by using

    -testmode -NoDelayLoad -NoDelayComp

This took load tiem up to a minute, but everything came up working aokay but a server busy error pops up in the background which is annoying.

Is there a way to make a switch that loads everything else normal but does not delay nav something like:

    -NoDelayNav

Right now it takes 3 minutes from cold boot to full SD with above options, if there was no delay on nav only I could load it in 2 min. the textures loads in 35-45 seconds

You could also try dropping the framerate down a bit. Your hardware is pretty slow so I would drop it to 15 FPS at most. That might solve the texture issue.

how can you live without hibernation or standby??

I sit in my car turn it on and after 5 seconds, before I'm actually on the road it's playing were it had stopped. :-)

I drive my pc always in standby..needs about 3W (hibernation or pc off about 2W). A good battery should easy be able to handle this for a week and then still be able to start.

I have been wanting to try that, but in standby, my fans still run. Any way around that?
    My opinion is my own.

    Sure!

There are several energy saver modes:

    S1 - only display off
S3 - suspend to RAM (everything of except bios and RAM)
    S4 - hibernate
    S5 - off

Your pc goes into S1 when you tell him to go into standby!
You have to set in the BIOS to use S3 instead of S1 !! other wise your battery is empty in hours...
But some boards don't support S3 especially some via boards, but with your shouldn't be a prob...

But to don't risk an empty battery and get a feeling of how long you can keep it in standby, you should measure your current consumption...
Mine is 0,16A 12V - 1,9W and thats really less could be that your board needs more...

I'm running a VIA board, but I'll check. Thinking seriously of changing my main computer now that all periferals are (semi) set. Looked at that Opus case and it's got my wheels turning.
