That was it.....thanks! (I hate it when a conspiracy theory falls apart)

Ok, found what I was looking for. This thread wasn't started by Chuck, but you'll notice he was interested in it.

And you know, I'm not stating my position as fact. I have no clue just like everyone else. Just that if I'm right, I would like to have a written log that I can point back to and say "SEE!! SEE!!"
    My opinion is my own.

But they didn't come from SD, they came from forum users!

Agreed, but I still feel the result is the same. Users (or testers) were partially responsible for making SD what it is. Think the programmer is the moderator of this forum by accident? Anyone in the company could tell if someone was here breaking the rules.

I don't remember if I was in high school or college, but I remember this story about this builder.....he built this complex, but he didn't put in any sidewalks or walkways. After a few months, he came back and put sidewalks where ever there were signs of heavy traffic. Not only were the sidewalks exactly where the users wanted them, but the look was artistic. Having the users tell you how to make something (even if they don't know they are doing it) is invaluable.
    My opinion is my own.

i think a partial refund by SD would be sufficient to cover our pain and suffering. or at least a free bluetooth dongle since i can't connect my phone without it. it's a steep price to pay for something that is half done. It says it has support and even gives a phone number when it crashes on you that rings and rings with no answer. Where does it say on SD's website that you are a beta tester until the final release of this product? I feel jipped out of $200. I work with computers for a living and was able to get this working, but I still can't play DVD's as many others can't when running Vista. I am running 1.1.1.6 now.

Think I would be more inclined to go after a refund on Vista, but that's just me.

Went back to media center. Runs flawlessly.
    My opinion is my own.

+1... Last week I was bored and felt like disputing the charge for streetdeck on my Amex... just to mess with mp3car/streetdeck and see what happens. I too am upset about the fact that DVD support doesn't work in Vista, but the idea of using an unsupported product that I recently purchased just doesn't work for me. Anyhow, American Express has the best customer care out there by far. After briefly describing the current state of streetdeck (unresolved bugs, unresponsive customer service, etc..) to the customer service rep., she told me that the charge was too old to dispute (3 month limit); so she just credited me the entire purchase price. Definitely not what I was expecting but pretty cool anyways...

First off, I don't disagree with you, so don't take this as trying to start a fight. lol

It really surprises me that they would do that because if they went by the letter of the law, Vista isn't a supported software of Streetdeck.......

    To Use StreetDeck you need:

Windows XP home or Pro Operating System (service pack 2)

    x86 CPU 1.2Ghz or greater
    512 Megabytes memory
2 Gigabytes of free disk space
    DirectX 9-compatible 3D graphics adapter
    DVD optical drive (for installation)
Touch screen highly recommended (Tablet PC, Ultra-Mobile PC or VGA touch panel)

(that would be MP3Cars way out of any refund)
    My opinion is my own.

actually prior to purchasing streetdeck I called and "Adam" specifically told me that they were running Vista on several machines, and it IS officially supported; they just hadn't updated their website yet. Should I have been skeptical of that?

Well, I wouldn't have, you wouldn't have, but would your neighborhood lawyer? Definitely.
I mean regardless of what they said verbally, they could get nasty. I would think that wouldn't happen though. I think most of these guys are good people and to me, the software is worth every penny. In other words, to some it isn't a ripoff, so I don't think they are "scammers".

I was thinking more of a third party like AMEX looking in without any knowledge.
    My opinion is my own.
