Amazes me that Vista has so many problems and yet people go after the software it's running rather than Vista itself. What I would look at is all the people saying SD on XP works great and then yell at MS "You promised me all my programs would work!"

Guess they think there is a better chance going after the little guy (when the big guy has more money to give). Heck, I fired United Airlines once. Size is irrelevant to right or wrong.

haha. I could see it now. SD community outside with pitchforks and flares with the staff throwing out to us bluetooth dongles like cheerleaders at a basketball game throwing towels to the crowd.

My attitude on the Vista vs XP issue is that I want to run SD under the best possible conditions with the least amount of hardware and money that will give me respectable performance. For me, XP does a great job. Heck, if SD ran better under 2000 I would install it in a heartbeat but XP runs great using my hardware.

Oh, I don't even really care about traffic updates to be honest. Bug fixes and new features would rock...

Exactly...... the goal is to get your front end running right as that is your primary (only) interface used on a carputer. The operating system should be secondary and chosen according to your front end, not the other way around. Once set up properly, you should never see your operating sytem.

Sidenote: Even if SD did work flawlessly with Vista, It will still be slower than with XP as Vista is a resource hog and there isn't a way around that. Little secret that Microsoft doesn't want you to know.......If you still have that old XP disk around, and haven't installed it in, oh....... awhile........well, let's just say you might give it a try. You will be pleasantly surprised.

And if it upsets you to concede and accept that you lost money to Microsoft, just think of this. I am a microsoft junkie, and I bought Vista TWICE, Ultimate and Home Premium (the top 2), only to give them both away.
    My opinion is my own.

Instead of having to wait for problems to be fixed on Vista...dump vista and use something that you know it will work on...XP...at least for the most part!

    Now...

It's Monday morning and Im guessing we'll get:

    a) "Yes, SD will continue to be supported but GoC won the lottery and we're trying to find somebody else to fill his shoes"
    b) "Yes SD will still be supported and yes...we suck for not posting in these forums but we've been so busy setting up deals with COmpany X to get V2 rolling with feature x that we haven't had time to post...plus the bluetooth thing we've been promising has been a pain so we're going to try to build in generic BT support like the OEMs so everybody should be able to get it working soon...go buy a cheap BT dongle and get the drivers loaded"
    c) "Yes SD will still be supported...we think...but there was a shakeup in the company and some issues with who actually owned SD so we havent posted pending a court hearing"
    d) "No SD will no longer be supported because it is being bought out by MS and they want to use it for their vehicles. It will now be an OEM product and individual software licenses will no longer be sold"
    e) "Yes SD will be supported...we've been so busy trying to get celebrity NavVoices going so everybody can have Mr. T. telling you where to turn that we forgot our passwords and he was pity'ing us for being fools for forgetting"

I could go on all day....

Maybe I'm an optimist since 4 out of 5 were positive saying that they would be cool with getting our frontend back on track.

Seriously though, I'm waiting to hear what the announcement is. Hopefully I'm right and things will be cool and that they were not responding to the forum for a good reason...

I was thinking Sean Connery would be a nice addition.

I was thinking Ashley Dupree aka "Karen" And everytime she tells you to turn or watchout ahead, she can refer to you (the driver) as client #9

Just think, you know that last turn audible? How much fun it would be with "TURN HERE, FOOL!"

Driving would never be the same again.....or as fun! I would guess that would be the ONLY audible too. None of this mamby pamby warning you are getting close.

And of course, it would max out your volume control before saying it.
    My opinion is my own.

That, and Chewbacca. No, you would never know what he said, but it would give you the feeling of taking on the Death Star after that next turn.
