    1. Doesn't have voice control
    yes it does...

    2. Doesn't have gesturing
I believe they have it coming out.

    3. Doesn't have internal bluetooth phone (still uses third party that limits phones, oh yeah, "coming soon").
I think you'll be surprised at just how quickly it's going to be avaliable. The 3rd party software that they used isn't made any more...so they have been working on a new option.

    4. Doesn't come with 3d map integration in navigation (big reason for SD cost)
you mean the different view in SD? How would providing a different view for MapPoint cost any thing additional? Keep in mind, I didn't develop SD nor was I really involved with it.

    5. Requires 3rd party programs to operate much like open source (winamp)
No it doesn't. I'm guessing it's been a while since you've looked at their requirements? They don't require WinAmp at all. When you purchase XLE, you get everything, maps included.

    6. And finally, costs 50% MORE than StreetDeck
Cost is no factor when you're talking about what people want and what people get.

I'd suggest you actually USE Centrafuse before knocking the price, JUST a suggestion. They do have a demo too fyi. Based on your comments, I'm guessing you tried CF a LONG time ago.

CF is very good and while I dont use it my self personally I think it was the reason SD has been killed....

I did download the full version and tried it out when Chris over at mo-co-so started selling it and saying he like it (2 months ago?). The navigation was hokey, and if you try to embed mappoint, it takes 10 minutes to boot up.

Bluetooth "coming soon" is the same arguement today no matter when it comes out.

If I am not mistaken, it did use winamp. Just because it COMES with Winamp, doesn't mean it doesn't use it.

The point is, it's still over 3 times as old, has less features, and is $100 more. But you are 100% correct on what the user wants.
    My opinion is my own.

The maps it comes with are way better than MP anyways, why would you want to use MP? Hell, iGuidance is 100% better than MP.

It doesn't use winamp....I'm not sure where you're getting this from?

I don't get this. How could a map be better or more accurate than an actual satellite image of an area? It shows super secret underground stealth passages? And like I said previously, if you put in the proper road/speed, mapppoint does great.

I may be wrong on the winamp thing, but I could have sworn I had crap popping up in the background when playing music.

I used iguidance 4.0 back with RR. It was ok, but not what I was looking for.
    My opinion is my own.

The implementation and the use is much better. MUCH easier to use, MUCH easier to follow, MUCH better direction prompting.

I can promise, NOTHING from WinAmp pops up. I can also say that they use a propritary media engine, none of this hacked in stuff.

I have not used iG 4.0. I have read that many people have had issues with it. I also know that iG is working on another release shortly. I've only used iG 3.0.

I've put the proper speeds into Map Point. I'll put it this way, everyone thinks a hamburger is great...until they eat a steak. It's all relative.

Centrafuse does not use winamp. However, I know for a fact that SD uses the windows media player ActiveX control combined with a custom WMP skin for its media playback. According to David, Centrafuse plays media directly through the OS.

Not that either approach is necessarily "better", but just wanted to clarify that Centrafuse does not use winamp. I agree with danielkh that the MapPoint plugin sucks, though.

    Jan,
I really didn't mean to start a fight. The point I was trying to make was SD is very new compared to CF, but yet has more "road friendly" features like gestures (don't have to look at the screen), Voice control, excellent custom capabilities (both do), VERY Microsoft friendly (as it's written around microsoft products, which to some is a downside, but to "plug and play" people, its important), works flawlessly in it's current condition, and costs $100 less,

One big issue, SD, when on home "stock" screen, doesn't feel it has to blare the products name across the screen (Not very OEM looking). I come from an age where, if you want to put your logo across the face of my product, then I get it for free, I don't pay extra.

But just because people don't jump to answer questions (for reasons unknown I might add), people want their money back.

You know, that's a good arguement that customer service is just as, if not more, important than the product itself.
    My opinion is my own.

Also, Jan, as for your reasons for CF.....

I'm an ole beat up tank commander, so I'm deaf in one ear and can't hear out of the other. I couldn't tell the difference in sound quality. If that wasn't the case, I might understand your arguement (in that aspect) better.

To me, the difference between hamburger and steak is visual......wow factor..... and the subdued layout, but yet constant visualization moving background, satellite imagery, gesturing, all that stuff, to ME, blows CF and every other front end I have tried or seen, right out of the water.

Also, I found CF to use more resources that SD. Is that a true statement? Or just my individual expreience?
    My opinion is my own.
